Dramatical Murphy High
Chapter 1 Onwards
I'm writing the whole thing because I can't be satisfied with a few touch ups here and there apparently.
Aoba rushed in front of her mirror as she tried to get her hair and clothes in order. She wanted to make sure everything was perfect for her first day back. As she smoothed out her school uniform, she turned occasionally as she tried to make sure everything thing was tucked in and nothing was showing. She didn't want to be late but she also didn't want to look sloppy. She checked the clock on her dressed and made sure that she had time, it was 7 am and her first period didn't start until 8 which gave her some time but the walk to school was at least 30 minutes so she couldn't have an easy pace for too long.
She looked over uniform for a final time, it consisted of a white polo shirt with a brown checkered tie and a brown medium length shirt and it still fit perfectly even though it was a year old. She frowned as she remembered that she didn't even get to use it properly because after a month of her second year her she came down with something terrible that left her in the hospital for a few months.
She ended up missing out on her whole second year as well and unfortunately had to be held back. At first she felt incredibly lonely at the idea that all the relationships had formed in her first year would now be cut, but her friend Koujaku always came to see her during her time in the hospital and he even helped her keep update with the things that had learned that year so she wouldn't feel too left out when she restarted her year. She extremely grateful to him being there for her and it helped her through her stay. She liked to believe that he was the reason she was able to make a good recovery but she would never say that to his face.
A loving smile formed on her lips as she reminisced. With a final look over her outfit was in order and the only thing left to do now was her hair. She reached for the scrunchie her grandmother, Tae, had given her but hesitated as she started at herself in the mirror. Her slightly pale petite face showed the worry on her face clearly though she wasn't really worried about whether or not it would look good. Rather she was worried about how it would feel because her hair had an odd sensitivity to it that made it uncomfortable and even painful to do almost anything with it. She couldn't even cut it or at least not until a certain point anyway and the last time she had tried a scrunchie it had ended up feeling like her nerve endings were stuck in shredder.
She shuddered slightly at the unpleasant memory, but she took a deep breath. She had to remind her self that her granny had been giving her pills to help with the sensitivity for years so if she had given her the scrunchie it was likely a specially made one. She took another deep breath and made a determined face before slowly pushing her hair into a high pony tail that sits in the middle of head. She winced a bit but instantly smiled at the results, it was slightly unpleasant but it wasn't as bad as feared.
Feeling a bit silly about her previous worries she did a final pose in front of the mirror, Perfect. She thought happy as she bounced over to the blue fluff ball on her bed. Smiling cheerfully she lightly tapped it on the head, "Ren, it's time to get up." Instantly there an electronic sound generated from the small ball of fur and it suddenly moved. It sat in upright position facing Aoba, before blinking its electronic eyes and saying "Good morning, Aoba." In a monotone and unusually deep voice.
"Good morning, Ren." She said returning the morning greet. Ren was Aoba's allmate, allmates are sort of like electronic helpers that can come in pretty much any model these days. Ren was modeled after a small toy breed dog, so he was really easy to carry around or conceal when she was at school. He may have been an older model but he was still able to help Aoba with most things and she felt extremely attached to him so she didn't want to give him up. She pushed that deep within her mind she didn't even want to think about the possibility of needing to get rid of him.
"Ren, do you have the time?" she asked as she lighted ran her hand through his fur. She wanted to know if his clock function was in order, since she just installed a new clock software she found on the net. "The time is 7:10," he made a pleased expression while she ran her hands through his fur. Closing his eyes panted slightly, Aoba chuckled a bit at the sight and looked over to the clock on her desk to make sure it was correct.
Feeling satisfy with the result she nodded and said "Alright I'm going to need you to keep track of time when we are walking. I think I'll have to see Haga when I get there so it'd be good if I could get there with some time to spare." She then put her book bag on the bed and made sure everything was in order, Ren gave a quick Understood Aoba before crawling him her book bag. She then zipped it up making sure to leave a space that he could stick his head out of.
Giving the bag a reassuring pat, she headed out the door of her room and down the stairs towards the kitchen. A sweet aroma filled the air and Aoba's stomach grumbled instinctively. It smelled like her grandmother had made her homemade donuts for breakfast. When she entered the kitchen she spotted a plate of the sugary balls on the tabled with a glass of hot tea next to it. Grinning she took a donut and stuffed it into her mouth and then grabbed the glass of hot tea to wash it down with.
Tae who had been washing something in the sink stopped the water and slowly turned to face Aoba. She wiped off her heads with a towel and gave her granddaughter a stern look. Tae wasn't actually Aoba's grandmother but she had raised her since she was small. Aoba smiled at the small old woman as she finished up the last of breakfast. Tae was an elderly woman with pink hair and was wearing her usual simple cream colored dress.
"Did you pack the donuts?" Aoba asked still smiling as she picked up her plate and cup and placed them in the sink. She placed her book bag on her shoulders and put on her school shoes. She was happy that she choose to go with brown knee socks they definitely felt comfortable in her brown loafers.
Tae closed her eyes and gave grunt, "Of course I did you wouldn't stop bugging me about it". Aoba grabbed lunch bag off the counter and gave her grandmother a big squeeze. "Thanks granny you are the best", she gave a huge smile and Tae sighed and her features soften. Despite her usual demeanor she was cared deeply for Aoba even if she didn't always show it outwardly. "Haga said that he wanted to see you before class." She made a concerned face and Aoba nodded. "I figured that would be case, don't worry I'll get there with time to spare."
As Aoba made her way out the door she heard a faint Hmph just don't overdo it come from behind her, she let out a small chuckle before waving and closing the door. Smiling to herself she stretched out and called Ren's name. "Yes, Aoba", he said as he popped his head through the space in her book. "What time is it now and what's the shortest route to the main road" she jogged in place to get her blood flowing as she peered at the wristwatch like device on her wrist. A screen popped on her coil, a minicomputer device capable of doing many things, it showed a small map of the area with a route drawn out.
"This is route will save you 15 minutes if you take it now", Ren said, the screen showed a small map. "Alright Ren, from here on out I'm going to jog so brace yourself." She started down her porch and turned onto her street. "Don't overdo it Aoba", Ren said before popping his back into her bag. A confident grin grew on Aoba's face as she headed down her porch and onto the proposed route. "Don't worry Ren, I'll be there with time to spare without breaking a sweat." She could hear a sigh coming from her bag and gave a small laugh.
