My Two Tributes to Calvin and Hobbes:
Number 1 - A haiku
Hobbes, orange striped tiger,
Calvin, a yellow haired kid
Imagination
Whether in a sled,
Or in a shiny wagon,
They journey off cliffs.
The great fun ended,
The year 1995
We'll all remember.
Number 2 - A Short Story
This day, Calvin felt sure, would be the day he did all his favorite activities. First, he woke up at 5:30am and, after waking up Hobbes, sprinted downstairs where he was met with a certain cereal calling his name. After making his breakfast, he and Hobbes ran into the the living room where he flopped down and stared at a TV screen for two hours until his Dad kicked him outside. With a shout of, "I'm NOT having any fun!" Calvin started making snowgoons until Hobbes "accidently" hit him with a snowball. That started a big snowball fight that included name-calling, snowfort building, and more snowball throwing. Once the two made up, it would begin a whole other snow war. With a simple hit, a girl was sent home crying. Calvin and Hobbes congratulated themselves and started planning there next snowball attack. Of course, you can't have an attack without a fort. Hobbes ran inside to get paper and pens. Calvin scopped out the landscape, trying to find the perfect place for their fort. A halfhour later, Calvin was sitting on a tree stump, waiting for Hobbes to come back. He ran inside only to find Hobbes sitting in front of the fireplace with hot cocoa. As it was getting dark and chilly outside, Calvin did not complain when his Mom told him to take off his boots and sit by the fire. With cocoa in hand, the two friends listened to Calvin's Dad read to them, "Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie." After the story was over, the contented Calvin did not gripe and grumble when his Mom told him to get into bed. Feeling warm and cozy, Calvin settled down in his bed and started thinking about the fun day he had. "Hobbes, see you tomorrow, buddy." And with that phrase, Calvin dropped off to sleep.

A/N- Calvin and Hobbes is one of my favorite comics. Unfortunatly, I was to young to appriciate it when it was running. My tribute to Calvin and Hobbes, two great characters, one great strip.
