I walked slowly and carefully through the town. Where I'm from, you cannot be out after dark. Or else… they'll get you. Turn you into one of them… And then, everybody hates you and tries to kill you.
I heard footsteps creeping behind me. I began to pick up my pace to a run. I was the only human outside in the night. The sun seemed to go down into the ground as I ran. My cross necklace beat against my chest as I tried to escape the figure.
It was then... I tripped over a branch. I fell flat on my face and my cross necklace poked into my neck, causing blood to spill.
Oh no! I thought frantically. They're drawn by blood!
The figure closed in on me and sunk white fangs into my neck. The bloodsucking vampire tore the cross off my neck and threw it to the ground. My crystal blue eyes turned a dark shade of red as I felt the vampire draw its fangs out of my neck.
My pulse raced faster and faster… and then… it stopped. I wasn't alive. The living dead now flowed underneath my skin.
My skin was white. Plain white. My eyes, a dark, blood red; my K-9 teeth were now fangs. Dangerous… Blood lustful fangs.
I need to get help! I need a hospital! A church! ANYTHING! I thought, scared.
I ran down the alleys, going to the only person I could trust.
I knocked on my boyfriend's door. He groggily answered, looking tired; but his eyes widened when he saw me.
"D-Dameon! You're—" John's voice cut off as he backed up.
"Please… Help me." I cried as tears streaked down my white face.
"Don't get near me!" John yelled.
"Please… Just help me, John…I don't want this curse!" I cried again.
"Stay the hell away from me, Dameon!" John shouted at me.
I felt as though my dead, non-beating heart had been dropped and shattered into a thousand pieces. Even my boyfriend couldn't help me. This curse was permanent.
"John, I won't get near you. You're my boyfriend; you won't even help me?" I asked as more tears came down like a river.
"D-Don't cry." John's voice still shook.
He actually stood in front of me, trying not to show fear, he hugged me comfortingly. "Don't cry." He repeated.
I started to feel better knowing John would get close to me.
"How can we get you out of this state?" asked John curiously.
I had come prepared just incase he would help me. I held out the weapon.
"Kill me." I replied quietly.
"I won't kill you!" John cried out in shock.
"You have to. Or else I will be a vampire forever." I explained as I hid my sorrow.
"Dameon, you can't die. At least… not alone." John held me close to him.
My eyes widened with tears as I knew what he was getting to.
"Bite my neck… Then we can stake each other and die peacefully… together." John smiled through tears.
"You can't risk that! Just take the stake and drive it through my chest; as hard as you can!" I ordered.
"Dameon! You will not die by yourself. I want to be with you wherever you go." John argued. "So, bite me!"
He held out his neck, waiting for his new fate. I lowered my fangs into his neck. John winced, but ignored the pain. His transformation began as well and he looked like me.
I wrote a note, explaining our deaths. John set up a trap to release the stakes when we pull the rope.
We sat together against the wall, and John's hand held the rope firmly.
"I love you, John." I told him with my final moments.
"I love you, too, Dameon." John replied as he held my hand.
He pulled the string—and the stakes fell.
……………
Thank you…
