She had stood in this place once before

She had stood in this place once before. Now she was here again. The world had changed. Eyes gazed despondently into the darkness that encroached upon her solitude, silently praying to the heavens. She had stood in the place once before, and now here she was again, wishing with all her heart that by whatever grace that had once saved her from this hell before, would do so just one more time.

Flashback

'Get up' she spoke through clench teeth, pulling at the intoxicated man that sat before her.

'No' she shoved the offending arm that was attempting to restrain her back, her hands dropping to her sides as what anger she had left was soon overpowered by disappointment. A muffled cry diverted her attention. His head didn't even turn.

'Get her out of here Lois' The words were barely above a whisper. No one moved.

'Didn't you here me (his tone had changed from utter defeat to pure unyielding rage as he screamed) JUST GET HER OUT OF HERE' He bellowed as his bottle was thrown towards the floor.

She shook her head and turned, opening warm arms to receive the undisturbed sleeping girl that looked too much like her mother from the arms of her lover.

Fine, silky blonde curls surrounded the face of the girl in her arms, eyelids drawn shut to hide the shining emeralds that lay beneath.

Lois drew a deep breath as her head inclined towards the broken mess that lay behind her that she couldn't help but hate a little.

'Chloe would be ashamed of you'

Nothing else was said as she moved with Clarks arm securely around her out of Queen Towers with the last memory of her own family cradled in her broken arms.
