"Loki" – a voice whispered in the darkness almost overshadowed by the constant drip and acidic sizzle of the poison as it slowly marred the trickster god's face.
"Loki" – the whisper was louder this time, yet the god still blocked it from his mind, fearing he had finally lost the last shreds of sanity he had so jealously guarded against Him, the Chitauri, and later the Aesir.
"Loki!"
"What?!" Loki finaly answered in anger, hoping the voice would leave him alone.
A smile was in the voice this time, "Is that any way to greet your soon to be rescuer?"
At this the green-eyed god finally looked before him to find his oldest and truest friend, "Hades"
A man with an ageless darkened face smiled brightly, white teeth gleaming with a vicious edge, red eyes smoldering like the flames of Hell, "Good to see I'm not to late." The man walked toward his friend with quick graceful steps, the shadows welcoming his slim black covered form.
Hades shuddered as he worked at the restraints, oppressing magic drenched the iron, luckily such chains had no defense against the sure fingers of a lock pick with a very creative streak.
His chained friend smiled weakly, desperately trying to ignore the constant pain dripping from above, "What took you so long?"
Hades smiled, nimble fingers almost done, "Ph the usual, an apocalypse to start another one to prevent. It's going to get really busy soon, figured I could use some help."
A clink of a chain and Loki was free; he smiled as he rubbed his wrists and climbed out of range from the poison. His friend knew him well, Loki knew such a distraction as Hades' workaholic tendencies would aid him in reclaiming his mind. "Well I suppose I have nothing better to do."
Hades grinned devilishly, red eyes gleaming from the shadows, "Oh, we're going to have so much fun!"
Laughter escaped Loki's mouth for the first time in what felt like ages as he faded into the shadows; it was good to be back.
