It was a messed up chain they had gotten themselves into

It was a messed up chain they had gotten themselves into. Somewhere along the path to becoming the 'Indestructible Four' they'd formed a chain of weakness and love, leading from one to the next.

Chuck's weakness is Blair. He's not sure how, or even when it happened, but now the thought of his life without her is a depressing thing. He used to not like her, used to think that she was annoying and a kill-joy, but now he can't help but love her. She reminds him of his mother (well at least the stories and photos he's got), with her perfect brown locks, and her pristine clothes. He'd do anything she asked of him, anything except stop loving her, because he can't do that, even if he tries. She's the Queen Bee, and he just wants to be her king.

Blair's weakness is Nate. Since age six Blair has wanted to marry Nate. She used to call herself Blair Archibald when playing dress-ups with Serena, and always insisted that she and Nate be mummy and daddy when playing house. Nate has always held her heart, and not just the gold one on his sleeve. He's the person she sees when she thinks of a future. He's rich, and handsome, and popular, and known, plus he cares about her. He was her first fuck (without alcohol), and her first love. She'd drop anything for him, including her two other best-friends, and she'd always love him.

Nate's weakness is Serena. He loves her spirit; Blair's like a perfectly manicured robot, but Serena is wild and full of life, something he's never known in his family. She's so beautiful, and bright, and she's always there for people, for him. She doesn't shy away from the truth, even if it hurts. She's not Blair, his parents don't like her, she's not perfect; and that's what he loves. She'll always be his downfall because he's never content without her. He had the most popular girlfriend, who had the most well-known mother, and still he was only really happen when Serena kissed him. He'd fight for Blair, because he knew he had to, but Serena would always be there, Serena would always care. He loved her, knew he shouldn't, but did. She was his downfall and comfort; she was his love.

Serena's not ready to call Chuck her weakness, nor will she admit that she loves him, but she cares a lot about the dope-head. No one believes anymore, but it was actually Serena and Chuck who were the creators of the 'Indestructible Four', he took the blame for one of her pranks, and in turn she held him as he cried on mothers day – because even at age five, Serena knew that he hurt without a mother. Chuck dragged Nate along one day after he'd overhead the boy saying he hated the teacher, and the next week Serena showed up tugging on the hand of a timid brunette whom her mother had introduced her to in hopes of feminising her daughter. Blair was always so wrapped up in Nate's words, and Nate was so often staring at Serena, that neither of them seemed to notice Chuck, so Serena and Chuck had grown close. Sure he'd tried to take advantage of her once, called her a slut a few times, but he always helped her, and in return Serena called his bluffs and saw who he was. He was sincere and helpful and kind and funny, and yes she did maybe love him a little bit, and yes she would ditch anything/one but Eric to help him. So maybe he really was her weakness and her love. The last link in the chain to repeat the vicious circle they'd somehow gotten themselves into.
