"Why are you bothering, Pride?" Jasper asked. My eyelid twitched.

"Because," I snapped.

"Because..." Lydia wanted me to elaborate.

"Because. Just because."

"Your Mum will just ruin it." Lydia laughed.

"My mother is the devil. My mother is horrendously like me and I want to prove to her that we are NOT alike, understand?" I blurted.

Lydia nodded, her eyes bulging. She could read my mind, but she still forced me to say these things aloud.

"Oh. I see," Jasper smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist.

Lydia sighed. I could read her, too, not like she could though.

She loved Jasper. She always had, since the day we met in Seattle.

She always looked like that around Jasper. And he knew it, he could feel it.
