Happy Valetine's Day! 3
KC stood awkwardly, balancing on chair that wasn't giving her very good vibes. It was the routine camera installation at the current location of Bellocan Catholic School. She had spotted the perfect location at put the camera in the classroom 3D. Nothing about the room made her feel safe but she just told herself to focus and she would be fine. Meanwhile, Jackie had just radioed the final camera aside from KC's. As she walked into base camp, she was surprised to see KC's spot empty.
"KC hasn't gotten back yet?" she asked taking a seat next Sam.
"No; I'll walkie her." Zack replied and picked up his headset. "KC, are you o-"
From above them, a large crash interrupted all of them. Riley stood up quickly and took the headset from Zack.
"KC?" he asked franticly. A moaning sound and the creak of floorboards echoed through the headset.
"KC's up there. That crash may have come from her." Riley said, taking the headset off and turning towards the team, "I'm gonna go check on her."
"Okay, we'll start the investigation." Sam replied and helped Jackie gear up for the library. Riley was now in the main hallway and was walking at a swift pace. As the creaking floorboards creaked again, he began to run until he reached the third floor hallway. Even though room 3D was just four doors down; it seemed like forever in the infinite darkness. Riley approached the door. He slid it open slowly and began calling in a sweet, hushed voice. "Hey."
"Riley?" KC asked, her voice drowned with pain. Riley's head quickly turned in her direction. She lay on the floor; breathing hard, stained in dust, and tears filling her cheeks.
"KC!" Riley whispered and ran over to her. He bent down. She tried to lift her head up to see him but he pushed her down gently. As he began to assess her, a book fell onto his head. KC lifted up a shaky, wounded arm and put it on the back of his head.
"You're bleeding." She whispered simply.
"Don't worry about it; you're in more trouble than I am." He replied, setting her arm down.
"I guess I am...something pushed me." She whispered weakly. Riley just nodded and put his coat under her head. From what he could see, she had a small cut on her forehead and the wind knocked out of her. He put his arm under her and helped stand up. She was a little shaky from the fall, but could stand up by herself. Riley quickly set the camera up on the teacher's desk and returned back to KC. He put his arm under her arms and helped walk back to base.
When they returned to base, Zack was more than surprised to the duo all messed up.
"What happened to you two?" Zack asked with a curious voice.
"I fell, and kinda got the wind knocked outta me." KC replied while sitting down. Riley sat down next to her.
"I'm pretty much fine; a book fell on me and my head got cut but I think it's stopped bleeding by now." Riley said sitting down next to KC.
"What about you Case? Are you bleeding?" Zack asked focusing on the monitors.
"I think." She replied.
"There's a first aid kit in the car; I'll be right back." Riley said and ran out of base. He returned a few minutes later. Immediately he began shuffling through all of the traumatic supplies just looking for a simple band-aid. After he finally found one, he went over to KC and sat down next to her. As he put it on her head, she let her forehead fall to Riley's.
"Thanks for saving me." KC whispered. In the next second, the gap was closed between them.
"Eww." Zack said looking at them with wide eyes.
