Mac stood in his office, staring at the file in his hands. Four days of thought had led to nothing. Nothing meant she wasn't coming back. She was gone for good.

'You look like you could use a drink,' Mac looked at Danny, smiling gently.

'What you still doing here?'

'I said I would do the night shift but the guy I was covering for came in anyway so although I'm still here, I'm just leaving,'

'Go home for the night Danny, I'll see you in the morning,' Danny nodded once, the door closing behind him. Mac turned the blinds, wanting to have time and peace without anyone watching him. He sat down, instantly opening the folder. Her picture fell out the folder onto the floor, Mac's jaw clenching at the sight of her face. Her picked the picture up slowly, running his fingers lightly over the face.

'Mac, you in here?' Mac closed the folder, covering it in others. Stella stuck her head in the door, looking suspiciously at Mac.

'What you doing in here?'

'Paper work. The usual,'

'I just saw Danny leave and wondered if you were meeting us for a drink,'

'Nah, I'll see you in the morning,' Stella shook her head, lifting Mac's jacket and holding it open to him.

'I think you will want to come for a drink with us,'

'Stella,'

'No arguing. It'll be worth it, trust me,' Mac nodded.

'Ok,'

'I'll meet you there, Just let me lock up,' Mac raised his eyebrows at Stella

'Lock up?'

'I have to get changed Mac, lock up the evidence room, you know, what I do every night before I leave here,'

'Sorry, I'll see you there,'

Mac opened the door, everyone sitting around the table.

'Mac, you made it,' Mac smiled weakly at Danny.

'I wasn't given much of choice,' Lindsey pulled a chair over between her and flack, Mac pulling it back a bit and sitting just outside of the circle.

'So, plans ladies and gentlemen,' Lindsey, Don and Mac all looked at Danny, Danny winking at the three of them.

'Danny, what are you doing?'

'Montana, patience,' Don smiled broadly.

'Mac doesn't have patience when it comes to waiting for a surprise,' Mac closed his eyes slowly, knowing that she was behind him, she was there.
