Inside the closet, hidden among what was left, was where he found her. The black and grey pin stripped jacket met the floor as it cloaked the petite woman. The once pristine white shirt was now wrinkled and soiled. She sat on the floor with the collar pressed against her nose, inhaling the faint scent as she caressed the soft linen.

The fabric made of pure premium, superfine Italian cotton, felt like silk beneath her fingers. The musky scent of sandlewood and cinnamon scent reminded her of the crisp winter. His touch was always so simple, like the whispers of cold wind that made the winter's breeze beautiful.

A man who in times past held a strong resemblance to the creature she had once loved, leaned over her sleeping form and took her into his arms. His pale locks brushed against her ivory skin as he wrapped her in his brother's jacket. Kagome's slender fingers searched and found his silken snow strands, her fingers intertwining with his tresses.

She slept in the arms of his brother. A likeness of the one she had lost to the hands of fate. He, only to be seen as a replica of the one who was gone from this world. The cold bitterness set in as he realized he was only an alternative to replace what was loss. In the darkness the other had become what they most desired, a reprieve from a buried husband and the love that had been lost so long ago.
