Robin almost runs down the path, tears threatening to pour down her face.
"Are you okay?" asks another woman sitting on a bench.
"Yes, I'm, no I'm not. I just told my future mother in law I can't have kids, I never wanted them but it still hurts" says Robin. The woman stands up and gives Robin a hug, Robin is surprised but hugs her back, tears spilling onto the woman's top.
"I'm sorry, I just cried all over a complete strangers' shoulder," says Robin.
"It's ok, happens to me more than you would believe," she says, "and I know what you're going through," she says.
"You do?" Robin asks.
"Well, not telling a mother in law, but not being able to have kids, I had cervical cancer and had to have a hysterectomy," she says.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what that is?" admits Robin.
"My uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries were removed," she explains, "But that doesn't mean I won't be a mother. Just because I can't give birth doesn't mean I won't have kids. family doesn't have to be related by blood or DNA, love is what makes a family and there are so many kids out there who deserve love and I have faith that I'll met a guy who will love me and we will adopt two amazing kids and if I'm really lucky he'll let me call them Luke and Leia." she says. Robin hugs her surprising them both.
"Thank you, I'm sure you will be an amazing mother," says Robin.
"You too, if you decide to," she says. Robin walks off, determined to find Barney. The other woman sits there for a few moments playing with her yellow umbrella.
And kids, your mother was right. Family is built on love, not blood, and we loved you both the moment we saw you. It took us ages to fill out the adoption forms because each time your Mother refused to let either of you go for even a moment.
As you know Robin and Barney never did adopt, but they are the best godparents I've ever known, always teaching you two magic tricks and taking you to cool places
And Aunt Robin was right; your Mom is an amazing mother.
