This was originally the first of a series of drabbles I had planned on writing, but I decided against that, and uploaded it again as a oneshot drabble. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I own nothing from the Mortal Instruments series. The lovely Cassandra Clare does.

Decision

Gold filled his dreams.

He saw it.

The golden skin, the golden hair, the golden eyes…

It was lovely.

Everything about it was lovely. Everything. The skin glistened in the sunlight, the hair was blown around in the wind, the eyes, watching him. They watched him with care, with protectiveness, with love…

Not that kind of love, though. That brotherly kind of love.

It wasn't the kind of love that he would've liked to come from him.

Then his dreams changed.

There was no more gold. In the place of it was something else. Something…

Colourful. Sparkly.

He saw bright, shimmering colours. Red, blue, pink, green, purple. Shining brightly.

He liked it. It was different…strange…other…but he liked it. Then he discovered what those colours were, and his feelings changed.

Did he really like it, more than he liked the gold?

The sparkling cat eyes bore into him. He swore his heart skipped a beat. They looked at him just like those gold eyes, except that it was a different kind of love. It was that kind of love that he had never thought he would ever see in another being's eyes, yet there it was. Not unrequited, he realized with a jolt.

He decided that perhaps gold wasn't all that he really wanted, after all.

Then his eyes opened. He sat up swiftly in his bed. Just as he did so, he felt his bed shift slightly and he heard the springs squeak. He heard light footsteps on the floor of his room, heard the screech of his window opening, felt the cool breeze on his face.

Glancing towards his window, he swore he saw the faint outline of something sliding its legs outside and clambering onto a nearby tree.

It sparkled in the moonlight.
