Employee ID's by patricia51
(What if Juliet, Justin and the rest of the Russo's had not arrived at the Late Night Bite in time? This is a wicked idea that came to me when watching "Wizards versus Vampires - Tasty Bites". Harper's comment "I really need a job" when Alec quits after realizing that the Van Heuson's were about to drain them made me laugh. Harper's ability to be completely obliviously to reality even as it happens brought this to mind. This is NOT meant to be taken seriously.)
"A little more Alex," Mr. Van Heuson directed my best friend. "Make the neck stand out. That's it. Very good."
"Can we go ahead and do this?" Alex muttered. "It's getting really uncomfortable."
"Oh it will all be over in a minute," Mr. Van Heuson said with a smirk. He gestured to Mrs. Van Heuson, who always insists we call her Cindy.
Cindy placed her hands on Alex's shoulders and leaned forward. Her long gray hair fell forward, hiding her face as well as my friend's neck and face. A deep moan came from Alex and I saw her body quiver for several moments as a gurgling sound came from the pair. Then the older woman lifted her head and I saw two puncture marks on Alex's neck as her head lolled sideways.
"You bit her!"
"Well," Cindy seemed embarrassed. "Yes I did."
"You turned her into a vampire!" I said accusingly.
"I did no such thing," replied Cindy indignantly.
"Well, that was a relief," I thought.
"I just drained all her blood." Cindy announced as she lifted Alex's unresisting form from the chair and propped her against the wall. My best friend's eyes stared blankly from a face that was frozen forever in surprise. "And see? It didn't even hurt. Just like a mosquito bite."
"Good picture too," noted Mr. Van Heuson as he examined the screen of the camera. His wife crossed to him and looked.
"Very nice indeed." She took the camera and gestured towards the chair. "Now. Time to take your picture Harper."
For some reason I felt uncomfortable about having my picture taken. I couldn't figure out exactly why.
"I'm not sure I want to," I blurted out.
"But Harper," Cindy said. "You have to! Otherwise we can't keep you here. As an employee I mean."
Mr. Van Heuson nodded agreement. I wondered why he seemed so restless, so jumpy. I mean, more than usual. And Cindy kept brushing my hair away from my neck.
"Well, I do need the job," I agreed reluctantly and sat down in the chair Alex had just been in. "But no biting me Cindy!"
"I won't. Promise." The female vampire said as she went to the camera. "Now, chin up! Turn your head. More now. Keep your chin way up. Crane your neck to the right."
"Like this?"
"Perfect." She waved to Mister Van Heuson and he came over and checked my pose.
The camera flashed again. There was a sting on my neck. Why was Cindy grinning so broadly? And why was everything growing dark? I was very tired and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I hoped this didn't ruin the picture.
Gurgle.
