The Prince let out an indignant sigh as he stared at his reflection in the royal mirror. He was coming of age and his hair was beginning to turn from his distinct red into a dull gray; he could soon be easily mistaken for his father, King Neptune. Feeling trapped, he pounded his fist on the desk, sending the clams and sea urchins clamoring to the sea floor. "Why must I carry this burden alone," he thought, "while my brothers are exploring the reef and living their lives?!" His father had been ill for many days and was becoming weaker as each moment passed. The kingdom of Atlantica was buzzing with the anxiety of what was to come.

"Prince Triton! Prince Triton!" yelled Sebastian as he scuttled quickly into the room, tripping over the clams that had just fallen. Gasping for air, "Your brother–Prince Oceanus–he is...in trouble!" Prince Triton, used to Sebastian's alarming announcements, did not even turn to look. "Prince? Did you hear me, your majesty?" Sebastian had caught his breath and climbed up the desk to better view the Prince's face.

"What is it this time?" Prince Triton responded with another sigh, barely lowering his eyes to meet Sebastian's.

"It's a ship, your majesty!"

"A ship, you say? What kind of ship? Where was it found?"

"He was swimming the great reef with your cousin and, you know that foolish boy, he went past the kingdom line and–"

"Past the line? What was he thinking?!" Without any hesitation, Prince Triton shot up from his desk and was swimming towards the great reef, Sebastian close behind.

It did not take them long to reach the edge of Atlantica, Prince Triton spotting Oceanus in the distant water. "Oceanus!" the Prince shouted, bubbles rising to the surface, but it was no use; his brother was taken by the dark shadow on the water's surface. With a look of desperation, Prince Triton slowly began to swim towards his brother, fearful of what this adventure would turn to. As he approached, the dark shadow of the ship began to fill his eyes and he felt more alive than he had ever before.

There was the sound of a whistle, a shout, and an object flew over the side of the ship. Prince Triton and Oceanus shielded their eyes with their arms as the object splashed into the deep waters before them. When the waves had settled, they crept closer to the ship. "Could that be...?" whispered Oceanus. The object sparkled as it bobbed up and down in the deep water, almost beckoning.

"Oceanus, no!" shouted Prince Triton, but it was too late. Oceanus had already swam towards the object, his hand outreached towards what he believed to be Aquamarine, a crystal highly valued for its sustainable properties of youth and health. At that very moment, there was another shout, this time louder and more menacing.

"Ahoy!" shouted one of the sailors. "Looky what we got here, boys!" Before Prince Triton could reach, a net had flown over the side of the boat, sweeping up Oceanus in one swift movement.
