Jamie Gordon shut the door to his house behind him and locked the door.
"Hello?" he asked, "Anyone home?"
There wasn't a reply so he went upstairs and walked to his room. Once he reached the door however he heard the muffled voice of his sister in her room. He backtracked to her door and pressed his ear against it. Inside he could hear her more clearly and there appeared to be a male voice aswell.
"Bruce, he's going down to the dock,"
"Oracle, I'll need a reroute. Traffic's packed,"
"Wait a second, turn right. He's heading up that way,"
"Thanks, Barbara. I see him,"
"Okay. Oracle out,"
After a few seconds of silence Jamie walked in and plonked himself down on Barbara's bed.
"Will you ever learn to knock?" she asked him, eyebrow raised.
"I did learn," he told her, "it comes and goes sometimes. Why were you talking to Bruce Wayne?"
A wave of shock ran over her face before she said, "How long were you listening at my door?"
"Not long," Jamie replied, "Just long enough to match his voice with the voice coming from the laptop,"
"I was just helping him with this advertising campaign," she explained, unconvincingly.
"So what's with the action movie talk," he asked before putting on his best action hero voice, "Oracle, I'll need a reroute. Also, what's with the name Oracle? Are you like a superhero or something?"
That was welcomed with a pillow to the face.
"Get out my room James,"
A few hours later, the Gordon household was sitting down to have tea when a news report flashed up on the TV:
"Earlier today, masked vigilante Batman is known to have apprehended the criminal Jervis Tetch after he committed a burglary on the Gotham City bank. After a car chase throughout Gotham, Tetch was caught at Gotham Docks. However, a fight took place which destroyed some of the docks, almost killing two police officers on the scene. As more and more events like this take place, there are growing concerns about whether Batman is good for Gotham anymore. We'll bring you more on this later, Vicki Vale out."
Jamie gave Barbara a questioning glance but she avoided his eyes. Their dad turned back round and started eating. "Were they two of yours Dad?" Jamie asked.
"Yep. Explosion blew them into the water," James Sr. recounted, "Almost drowned,"
"Who saved them?"
"Robin did. After the dock blew up, Batman turned a blind eye,"
"Really?"
"Yeah,"
"But Dad," Barbara entered the conversation, "that can't have been what happened. Batman wouldn't do tha-"
"I'm telling you Barbara. That's what I saw. Now eat,"
