Shinji Joins the UFC

For two weeks now, Shinji had passed this gym by. Today, however, he decided that he would "step up" and prove his manhood. Shinji stepped into the gym, and began to look around. To his relief, only a few people were training at the time. He had been so engrossed in looking around the training center that he failed to notice someone walking up behind him. It had only taken Chris one look to see that this kid was different then all the other kids that had walked in here and said they would be the best. It had only taken two weeks of training and sparring to separate the men from the boys, but this kid was different than all the others. Chris could see that this kid needed the training very badly, however. Shinji didn't see that there was a man with red hair and a nice build sitting next to him. It was only when the man broke the peaceful silence that Shinji noticed the man. Shinji still had to ask the man if he would teach him. Shinji started to turn around to head toward the exit when the man spoke up.
"So, do you want to train here or not?" asked Chris.
"Yes, I do," replied Shinji.
"Then get in the ring and do a little shadow boxing, and afterward we'll try a little workout," said Chris.
It must have been the way Chris said "a little workout" that made Shinji feel a little worried. It wasn't until they stopped for a break that Shinji had realized what a mistake that he had made but he wasn't going to allow himself to stop. Shinji wanted to do this for himself and for Asuka, just so he could show her that he isn't a weak and scared little boy, that he is a man.
Chris had been training with Shinji for about two hours now and he could already tell that he was going to be a great fighter. Shinji had all the traits to be a fighter; he had the determination, he had the anger, and most of all he was calm; most fighters will lose their cool in a fight, but not Shinji, he had already showed that he had what it took to be an Ultimate Fighter.
The work out had been over for about a half hour but Chris still had Shinji doing crunches and push ups, he kept telling him that first you must do a hard work out, then you must do a work out to calm you down. Finally it was over for Shinji. He was getting ready to walk home, but Chris offered him a ride home, which Shinji accepted.
The car ride was silent except for the loud rock music until Chris broke the silence, and turned down the loud music. That was when Chris asked the question that Shinji had been dreading.
"Shinji, why do you want to be an ultimate fighter?" asked Chris.
"To prove to everyone that I'm not weak," Shinji stated.
Chris just smiled. Yes this kid would be great. They arrived, and Chris told Shinji that he had better show up tomorrow and Shinji said he would, and they both bid each other good night.
Shinji watched as Chris drove away, then turned around and walked up to his apartment, dreading that in a few minutes he would have to deal with the "Red Devil." Once he opened the door, she was on him, yelling about how he didn't make her dinner and how he was a just an idiot. All Shinji did was look at her, then walk to his room.
