"Remember that

When your phone keeps ringing all night long

And that same old weakness gets so strong"

"Come on, come on, pick up the damn phone."

"Talking to yourself Mer?" Alex smirks. "Who is it? You're pacing."

"I'm not pacing." she says, stopping. She sits on the bed. "Go away and close the door."

Alex raises his eyebrows but doesn't question her any more."

"Pick up." she keeps saying stubbornly, with a nod.

"Meredith, I was in surgery."

"She's getting married, you idiot!" she yells angrily, and her voice echoes in the room.

"What?" he asks after a silent pause.

"Yes! And you need to stop her."

"When?"

"In two days."

"And you're telling me now?"

"Look, I've been busy trying to talk her out of it. And she just wouldn't change her mind. But then I asked her if she was sure and she said she was, but the look in her eyes, you should have seen it. I could tell she was thinking about you; you know I can read her mind."

"Yeah." he sighs. "But she loves him."

"And you love her. Since that conference where we met, you wanted me to call you every few months to tell you about her. If it isn't love... you're quite stupid though. You could have come back and get her."

"Meredith." he tries to explain her. "I left her. I couldn't come back."

"Fine, do what you want. Let her marry that guy." and she hangs up.

"Meredith?" Alex is on her door again, and he clearly heard everything. "Cristina will totally kill you."

I push the door open and when I see her I can only think that it's right.

Me being here, at her wedding, claiming my love for her and to her. It feels right. It is right.

When I find Meredith in the crowd, she smiles at me and gives me a firm nod, exhorting me to continue.

"What is he doing here?" my Cristina hisses, sending her best death glares everywhere to find the real guilty one.

Her soon-to-be-not-husband draws closer to her, and let me say that he doesn't look sure of himself. He seems like he's pleading God not to make Cristina leave him.

"I guess it's too late, isn't it?" I smirk, faking a sad expression. "Go on, you get married. I need to leave this place."

I turn on my heels, feeling everyone's gaze on me, hearing Meredith's silent 'what are you doing?'. But I still walk towards the door, knowing I made her doubt of what she's about to do.

"I really think I want this."

"I really wish you didn't think. I wish that you knew."

"I, I know." my voice comes out a little low, a little insecure. But I'm sure my eyes are steady, and he will trust them.

He stops, but he doesn't turn.

x

I smile hearing Cristina's words.

"You do?" I ask, slowly turning around to face her.

"I do."

"Good, 'cause I do too."

"Did you hear them? They both said 'I do'!"

x

Frowning, I turn towards my person. What?

She is obviously talking to the priest, as Owen clenches his teeth – speechless – and Alex bursts into laughters.

She knew?

My thoughts are cut away by Burke pulling me to his chest and kissing me like there's not tomorrow.

Maybe tomorrow really won't be there waiting for us, but today 'we do'.

A/N: Oh My. When I started it, I didn't think it would suck this way. I'm not sure why I posted it, the ending doesn't even make sense. I mean, why would Owen stay there and listen? Hope you still enjoyed some Burketina though...
