Rain Interlude
She felt the cold droplets splashing onto her face. On her lips and over her closed eyelids. She knew she must look silly, standing out in this storm, her head tilted towards the sky. But there was no one to see, and she didn't care.
A bolt of lightning struck, followed almost immediately by earthshaking thunder. She could feel it in her teeth. They chattered. Or was that from the cold?
Filia giggled, softly, in a dreamy sort of way. She was being silly. She was going back inside before she got struck by lighting. Or caught pneumonia. Or both.
Wet strands of hair clung to her face, and her soaking dress stuck to her body as she made her way to the back door of the small cottage. The kitchen was dimly lit in the stormy late afternoon light. She didn't bother with a lamp. She knew her way well enough. What she didn't notice were the shadows gathering in the room, forming into a shape. She didn't notice it, but she felt it. So she was only faintly surprised when a pair of dark arms wrapped around her.
"Enjoying the rain, little dragon?" his velvety voice whispered.
She smiled secretly, but sighed in mock annoyance. "Maybe; get you hands off me Namagomi."
The Mazoku smiled, but ignored her request. She was playing his game.
"I thought it was unicorns who liked rain."
She ducked out from under his arms. "I like rain."
Another bolt of lighting crackled across the sky. Thunder was becoming continuous.
Filia walked to the stove. "I think I'll have some tea," she said, pulling a pot out.
The Trickster watched her for a moment or two, as she rummaged through the closet, poured the water, and lit the stove. He came up behind her again, putting his hands over her own, stilling them. "I think I'll have something else."
She paused, turned around in his arms, looking up at his face. At the playful, mysterious, slightly disturbing smile planted their. Their lips met. The kiss opening slowly and softly at first, the way she preferred it. But he deepened it after a moment, turning it hot and wild. Like he was.
Filia was the one to pull away, taking a breath.
"Your trembling Filia-chan." he said, brushing his lips against her neck.
She blushed. "I guess I got a bit wet out there," she admitted, "I'm not cold."
"You will be if you stay in those clothes much longer. I could...help you change out of them." He suggested, grinning.
She laughed, tangling her finger in his deep purple strands, "I don't doubt that."
Her arms reached up around his neck, and she hugged him to her. This was her peace. It was a fragile thing, she knew. There could be warring races, and out of control dark lords. But where she was concerned there was peace...for now. And she cherished it.
"Just hold me," she whispered into the soft folds of his shirt. His arms pulled her close.
Good and evil were at peace in the cottage. The rain poured down outside. The storm raged on.
End
