A/N: Just a short, quick Halloween drabble about Cheren and Hilbert (and Hilda, I guess). I wish I could do this to trick-or-treaters when I had to stay home in the dark years ago. It would've made the night much more enjoyable, no?
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
It was a quiet night in Nuvema Town. The lillipups has ceased playing for the day, so the only thing the town folk could hear from Route One was the occasional bark. But Cheren knew it was a lie.
The teen sat in the darkness of his home, his only companion was his newly obtained snivy. His parents had gone to Striaton City for supper, and Cheren wished that he went with them. The small town wasn't used to visitors, but Cheren knew he would have some of his own tonight.
The sun had slowly crept down into the horizon and he had relaxed in his chair. Until his snivy gave a quiet cry, that is. Cheren looked briefly at the ceiling before creeping towards the door.
He could almost hear the sound of leaves beneath shoes and frowned when they stopped in front of his house.
Knock, knock.
He suppressed a sigh of disappointment. The knocking continued in a random frenzy that almost made Cheren rip the door open and punch the offender. His hand stopped an inch from the doorknob when the obnoxious knocking ceased.
"I don't think anybody's home," a feminine voice said from other side of the door.
"Nonsense," a voice replied. Cheren could practically hear the smirk in its tone.
His snivy gave a sharp cry of discomfort and covered the sides of its head to block out the doorbell. The bell was just as obnoxious as the knocking. It rang as if it was part of a tune before ringing every second. The black haired teen tore open the door and glared at his grinning friend.
"Trick-or-treat!"
Cheren stared at the empty pillow case that was thrusted into his face before shoving it out of the way. "What are you two doing?"
"Robbing your house." Hilbert rolled his eyes. "It's Halloween, what you think we're doing?"
Cheren's gaze switched between Hilbert and Hilda. The two weren't decked out in costumes like all of the other trick-or-treaters, but both wore purrloin ears.
Cheren beckoned the brown haired teen foreword. "Come here, I guess," he sighed. Hilbert stepped closer only to have the door slammed into his face.
Cheren's mouth broke out into a smirk at the muffled cursing on the other side of the door. "I hope you like your treat. Come again next year for another." He withdrew back into the comfort of his chair and switched the light on for a quick read of Pokédex entries.
