She was caught in a whirlwind when she fell for him the first time. The second, of course, her heart was broken, but the first, her life was a whirlwind, a crazy storm of overwhelming emotions and topsy-turvy adventure.
The sun's fleeting rays were perfectly angled the first time Flora saw "Future Luke," and the way the light bounced off his flaxen hair and flawless nose, well, it made her heart pound. He was utterly perfect; handsome, polite, intelligent. Not to mention his voice resonated like the growl of a panther trapped in a cello. Flora determined right then and there that she would be worth something to this strange, futuristic boy.
Her golden chance stared her in the face a few hours later, but she was too shocked and unprepared to take it, at first.
"I'll go with Flora; we'll meet back at the hotel." he'd purred, a suggestion that took a minute for her to understand. I-it's too perfect! she thought desperately, it's too perfect too soon!
"L-luke? Can we trade places?" she tried to worm her way out of the situation, but the Professor obviously thought otherwise.
"Don't worry, Flora, we'll see you back at the hotel. I'm sure that Future Luke will be a fine escort."
Fine. I'll just... rush things a little. She vowed, with a little more confidence than she was really feeling.
Flora crawled down into the dank tunnel, nervous from both the atmosphere, and the company she was with.
