The first day of Hogwarts wasn't half as boring as I expected it to be. After all, Amelia and I had both been sorted into Gryffindor so we made every moment as amusing as it could be, even when things went wrong.
"Mr Lupin, you're not saying the incantation correctly," Professor Flitwick called to me as I tried for the twelfth time to perfect the levitation charm. Amelia, who had gotten the charm correct on her second try, grinned widely at me and I crinkled my nose up in irritation. I tried again, but still nothing happened when I waved my wand at the feather on the desk.
"If at first you don't succeed, try try again," Amelia sang, in a voice annoyingly similar to Grandma Andromeda's.
"You just had to bring that up, didn't you?" I retorted before adopting a similar voice, "I remember, back in good old 1973 when I was a seventh year, charms was so much more difficult than you lot will do now. Blah, blah, blah."
Amelia snorted as I spoke. How can she be so much better than I was? We were twins; we should both be good at the same things. Grandma Andromeda always said we were like two peas in a pod so I guess that I would get it eventually. In the meantime, I'd have to find something I could beat her at.
Amelia sighed, "I miss her."
I chuckled with a smirk, "Of course you miss her, Millie-Bear."
She reached out and swatted me across the back of the head. Her movements were so fast that I couldn't have gotten out of the way even if I'd seen her coming.
"Don't call me Millie-Bear, Teddy-Bear," she scowled. I returned an equally as irritated scowl before grinning and turning to try the spell one more time. To my shock, the feather rose off the desk and I pulled the most arrogant face I possibly could. As a joke, of course.
Amelia rolled her eyes, "Show off."
I just can't catch a break today.
