Hold on, Lex. Just a little bit longer. I'm almost there, hold on. I know how you feel. You're not alone, you're never alone. You have me. Can't you feel it? I'm right there with you. I'm always with you. Inside you. In your heart, just like you are in mine. Always, since that day on the bridge. You felt it too, I know you did. We connected that day. Something clicked.

You know that void you feel? It doesn't have to be empty any more. Not since we found each other. The void your mother left when she died, the one your father deepened by mistreating and ignoring you... It can be filled, Lex. I can fill it. I know because I felt it too. The void. It was consuming me from the inside out. And now it's gone. It's been gone since you entered my life. You filled it. Can't you see? I'm whole again, thanks to you.

Please, Lex, don't give up. You don't have to go. It can get better. I'll make it better. You'll find what you're looking for. You'll find me. I'll make you whole again. I'm already inside you. You only have to find me. Just don't stop looking, please. Don't stop searching, it's not over.

Come on, Lex, I'm almost there. I'm entering the mansion, just hold on a bit more. I know how everything feels right now. You're feeling sad, you're feeling lonely, and no one seems to care. But I care, Lex. You're the most important person in my life. It doesn't have to be this way. You don't have to end it. You're stronger than that.

"Lex!"

I'm here, Lex, see? You're not alone, I'm here. It's not too late. You can feel it. Something was missing, but not any more. With my arms around you, my lips pressed to yours, you can feel the void filling, the chasm closing up as the blade falls from your hand.

You look at me after we part. Your eyes are closed, but I know you are looking at me. You can see me inside you. Then your eyes open and you see me in front of you as well.

"Clark?"

A thousand questions in your voice, but your moist eyes tell me you know all the answers. All but one.

"I felt it, Lex. I felt you wanting to end it all. But I couldn't let you. I wouldn't."

Now your eyes are smiling. Your face, wet with tears, is smiling too as you close the distance between us and our mouths are sealed again, as the void is filled completely because you held on.
