Confrontation
Madoka Magica

I felt chills going down my back as I approached the devil's lair. Sure, it looked like a normal everyday apartment, but I knew the infestation of evil itself was sitting just beyond this weak wooden door in front of me. I grabbed the doorknob and turned it. Locked, of course. Should I try knocking? I instantly shook my head. What was I thinking? I shouldn't just have her invite me inside. I'm the hero, I have to demand entry.

As I stood there deciding what to do, I heard footsteps coming up from behind me. I turned around and saw Homura Akemi, the devil in human form. She stopped about three metres in front of me.

"Sayaka Miki…? What brings you to this side of town?"

Homura questioned my presence with a smug expression. She was always like this and I didn't like it one bit. I growled at her in irritation as I gave out my honest answer.

"I want to talk to you. Alone."

"I don't know about that, I'm a very busy girl. I have another date with Madoka tonight."

That "date" was one way of course. Madoka thought they were just hanging out without a doubt. Homura was probably too afraid to tell Madoka her true feelings.

I stopped my train of thought. Fear? That doesn't sound like a demonic quality at all. Perhaps she had another reason for not telling Madoka the truth. The sound of Homura's voice snapped me back to reality.

"However, I can clear my schedule just for you. Let's talk inside."

Homura unlocked the door and held it open for me. I didn't move. Homura sighed at looked at me.

"I'm not going to do anything to you." She told me. "If I had that intention, I would have jumped at the opportunity months ago."

I wasn't satisfied with that answer, but I headed inside anyway. Homura's apartment looked strangely normal. It had normal wallpaper and it was furnished with normal furniture. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was a complete surprise. Homura and I sat down at her dinner table.

"So, what's so important that you had to travel to the other side of town to see me?"

"It's about Madoka." I told her. "I think you should let her go."

"Yeah, no." Homura sarcastically replied. "Madoka and I are going out right now. It's only a matter of time before we get married. I'm already planning our wedding in Scotland. The marrying age there is sixteen, did you know? We're less than two years off. I'm so excited."

"That's all assuming that Madoka wants to marry you. You haven't actually confessed to her, have you?"

Homura looked genuinely conflicted when I asked this question. After a few seconds, she finally came up with a weak answer.

"We're going out on dates. Isn't that good enough?"

I literally laughed out loud. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was Homura really this clueless? I was gonna have fun with this.

"No, not if the other person doesn't know it's a date." I said as I held back more laughter. "Madoka only thinks of you as a kind friend, Homura. You've been friend zoned."

The only reply I got was a string of angry swear words. I got up from my chair and left the apartment as more insults were thrown at me. I closed the front door and headed to the elevator. I must've had the biggest smile on my face. I just defeated the devil, in my own little way.
