Yup, Gelphie. I couldn't get it out of my head. A little scene, right before they meet the Wizard.

Thunder crackled outside the little inn in the Emerald City. Elphaba scooted closer to Glinda, though that was nearly impossible in the already cramped bed. Glinda sat up, taking the blanket with her. "Elphie, it's almost like you're afraid of the storm."

Another pop of thunder and Elphaba shivered a little, sitting up as well. "Not of the storm, but the rain. The thunder reminds me of it." The next day the girls would have four minutes with the Wizard, this was their last night in the City. It was almost fitting that outside nature was tearing the world apart.

Glinda was shocked. "You're afraid? I've never known you to be afraid of anything."

Elphaba rolled her eyes. "Don't be so shocked, dear. I'm afraid of alot of things." She laid back down, staring up at the ceiling. "I'm afraid of what'll happen tomorrow. I'm afraid what happened to Doctor Dillamond will happen to other Animals. I'm afraid my family will get caught in the crossfire of some military regime. I'm afraid my father will never be satisfied with his life. I'm afraid my sister will be consumed by her faith." She hesitated for a minute. "I'm afraid I'll hurt the people I love."

Glinda curled back against her, tucking the blanket around Elphaba. "I'm afraid I'll never be loved by the person I love." She made a face. "Not that I know what I'm talking about. I don't know how love works, anyway."

"I never thought-" A bit of thunder cut her off. "I never thought love would be something you have to think about. I always thought it would just happen, if it's going to happen. Not that it will happen to me."

Glinda rolled, resting her head on Elphaba's shoulder. She pushed a bit of dark hair out of Elphaba's face. "Love will happen to you, Elphie. I know it will." She fidgeted, uneasy. "Someone will love you with all their heart."

"How? How do you know?"

She hesitated, listening to the rain patter on the roof, punctuated by thunder. "Because," she gently turned Elphaba's face to her. "Because I..." Words failed her, and she kissed her roommate instead. Actions said so much more than words could.

"Oh," Elphaba breathed once Glinda pulled away, letting the blonde's arms wrap around her, feeling a small hand tangle in her hair. The both of them were terribly afraid of many things. But then it didn't matter so much.
