I don't own Naruto. I'm just a lonely person playing around with Kishimoto's ideas.

In the beginning there were

two boys and

one girl.

Their names were

Sarutobi

Koharu

and Homura.

They were the first

Team Seven.

Many years had passed, and

time gave birth to a new Team Seven, lead by

the Sarutobi.

Again, it was made up of

two boys

and one girl.

Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya

were their names.

Secretly, as the Sarutobi watched them,

and taught them,

they became his own family,

but also

remnants of

the teamates he lost.

They survived.

And became the sannin.

Only one took a true genin team,

also known as

Team Seven.

As always,

two boys and

one girl.

Sarutobi Ren

Mikoto Uchiha

and

Minato Namikaze.

And then there was one.

Mikoto died in childbirth, her second.

Ren died in battle, sacrificing himself for his wife.

And Minato stood alone

left behind

reading the Memorial Stone.

And protecting the village

as it's

Hokage.

And yet again, there was one.

He took a genin team, the new

Team Seven.

Kakashi

Obito, and

Rin.

Two boys and one girls, the same as always.

As he watches them train,

as Obito comes to blows with Kakashi over some violation of the Shinobi code

and Rin breaks up the fight, laughing

he hopes that

they will never know the pain

of watching your teamates die.

And the even worse suffering

of being the one

left behind.

A scarcrow stands watch at a memorial stone, his lips twitching as

a blonde-haired boy charges a cool, colected raven

with a pink haired girl cheering them on.

When he watches his team, his family

like this, he almost feels

content.

First the serpent,

then the toad.

Tsunade reaches for a bottle of sake.

The curse of

Team Seven

has finally taken

it's toll.

And then, as it has always been,

there was one.

Two graves lay near each other.

Not side by side, as husband and wife

but just close enough to be

teamates.

A Hokage and the world's most famous medic

Leaving behind

the traitor.

It takes a long time for the glares to stop

but he deserves it.

It is a form

of his penance.

He does not know what posessed him to ask the Hokage,

(who is even younger than him)

for a genin team, but

when he is assigned Team Seven

he feels

regret.

He knows that he will fail to save them.

A blonde haired boy whose white eyes take in every sight

A red haired boy who devotes himself to taijutsu

and

A girl who no one acknowledges.

A jinchuriki with black hair,

and

the Sharingan.

His penance, and his

redemption.

And then there was one.
