I do not own Maximum Ride the series nor the character.
Fang stayed in bed for about a solid twenty minutes before impatience finally took over. He was sharing this hotel room with Iggy, who was still snoring away into oblivion. Gazzy and Nudge were supposed to have the other room, and Angel and Max were in the third room.
So why was Fang up for twenty minutes just wasting away in bed, you ask? Well, he was waiting. Usually, Max would've busted the door down by now, mercilessly kicking them all out of bed. He was ever so innocently hanging around here for her. He liked the basic and blunt routine Max set up for each morning.
So why was she late?
Finally, deciding that Max was probably either kidnapped or incompetent as leader at the moment, Fang went knocking on her room door. Without being granted permission, he poked his dark head in.
Max was awake alright.
"Why didn't you wake us up?" Fang casually asked, walking in and closing the door behind him.
"What? Do I look like an alarm clock to you?" came the sleepy reply.
Fang raised an eyebrow at the lump clumped up to Max's side. Angel was sharing a bed with Max instead of using her own.
"She had a nightmare about three O'clock in the morning," Max answered his questioning look. "She huddled up to me."
"So…you comforted her?" Fang leaned against the wall, nonchalance written all over his face.
"Yeah." A smirk grazed Max's face. "Don't tell me you're jealous?"
"Huh?" Fang cocked his head in a total attitude of fake confusion.
"When the flock was…temporarily split up, you were the leader, right?" Max's grin wavered for the slightest second.
"What's your point?" Fang asked back. This was going no where…
"I just think you were jealous of me because Angel didn't look to you for comfort." Max's smirk was back in full power. "Of course," she added, "you aren't exactly a stuffed teddy bear."
Fang rolled his eyes and tiptoed back to his bed.
Max was both right and wrong in this situation.
Fang wasn't about to go into the typical denial mode. He was just relieved that Max had made a mistake in her guess.
She was right about him being jealous.
But it wasn't Max that he was jealous of.
You don't get it? Well, Fang was jealous of Angel because he wanted to be the one to have slept with Max. I know it's a bit perverted, but this is nothing compared to all the lemons I've read around here.
