In a small town called Beach City lived a young boy named Steven Universe. Steven was not like regular children, for you see he was half-Gem. Gems are a mystical species of sentient space-rocks, and Steven currently lived with three other Gems named Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. They were his primary care givers, and all four of them lived in a Beach House built into the side of a cliff with a giant statue of a multi-armed, two-faced woman on it.

Steven was currently walking out of his Beach House with a blue bicycle by his side and a red helmet on his head when, while walking down the steps, a large roaring sound was heard, along with the ground shaking. This caused Steven to let go of his bike, which then rolled down the rest of the steps.

The bike rolled down the steps and then down the hill and rested right in front of the three Gems, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl, who made up the Crystal Gems. The Crystal Gems were a group of Gems who dedicated their lives to protecting the Earth from Gem monsters and other threats. At that moment though the Gems were having a discussion about the earthquakes.

"That's just it," said Pearl to Garnet and Amethyst, "I don't think they are earthquakes. They're to frequent." She stopped talking when she saw the bike, and by extension Steven.

"Hey, look," Amethyst said, "Steven's got a bike. Where are you going Steven?" She asked as Steven finally caught up to the bike and picked it up off the ground.

"Just out for a ride," Steven said, somewhat nervously.

"In the sand?" Pearl asked, confused.

"Yup," Steven replied cheerfully.

Steven was currently riding his bike through the sand, extremely slowly. After a few seconds of riding he came across another young boy that looked just about his own age, sitting on the sand and reading. Steven continued forward on his back towards him, slightly faster than before.

As he stopped his bike a few feet away from the other boy he got off of it, and he said "Sweet smooth ride," Steven looked over at the other boy who just continued reading his book, "Five speeds...hand breaks... electric blue finish with a tiger bell," and then he began to ring the bell a few times. "I bet there are a lot of kids who would love to ride this bab-" He said as he tried to get back on the bike, but he got cut-off as he fell over on top of the bike instead.

The other boy finally looked over at Steven, but as he did Steven began to freak out a little a bit. Steven moaned a few times in pain before getting up and running away screaming, leaving his bike behind.

He ran back into his beach house loft panting and swearing where he saw the Gems, who were looking out the window. Apparently, they had been spying on him.

"Who were you talking to?" Pearl asked him slowly.

"Huh?" He asked.

"That boy," Garnet said, in her regular monotone and detached voice.

"You saw?!" Steven said, sounding anxious as he began to blush. "He's just a boy I know, except he doesn't know me. We've never talked." He finished sadly.

Amethyst gasped, and she said "You like him!" As she ran up to Steven and squished his cheeks together.

"Uh, I like everybody," Steven said as a rebuttal with his cheeks still squished.

Steven then pushed Amethyst away as Pearl began to say, "Let's set up a playdate! I'll right up an invitation, and work out a schedule. Oh! We'll have to figure out his favorite kind of tea-"

Pearl got cut off as Garnet said, "No, just talk to him."

"Okay," Steven said before putting on a resolute face and saying, "But you guys can't watch this time. You'll mess up my funky-flow!"

"Funky-flow?" Amethyst and Pearl asked at the same time.

"We won't watch." Garnet told him.

"Alright," Steven said, before rushing off towards the fridge and pulling something out of the freezer.

"What's that?" Amethyst asked him while he ran out of the loft and replied with a simple "Nothing."

"Hi, my name is Steven," Steven said to himself a couple of times in different voices before he was interrupted by another roaring sound and the ground shaking even harder than before. He then noticed some rocks falling from the cliff above the boy he was heading towards, so Steven ran at him and tried to push him out of the way while yelling "Hi, my name is Steven!".

When he ran into him he pushed the boy over and landed on top of him, but just as that happened the Gem on Steven's stomach glowed and a rose-shaped sphere of pink energy surrounded the two of them before turning into what appeared as a regular, albeit gigantic, bubble. When the rocks from above hit the bubble they fell around it without popping it.

"Woah! How did I do that?" Steven asked himself before turning to the boy and saying again, "Hi, my name is Steven!"

The boy fixed his glasses which had gone askew during the fall and said in a shocked yet even voice, "Harry Potter. What happened? What is this thing?"

"I'm magic," Steven replied, "Well, half magic. On my Mom's side."

"You did this?" Harry asked in awe.

"Apparently," Steven said, happy at Harry's reaction. "I'm a member of the Crystal Gems. We fight monsters and protect humanity and stuff."

"That's amazing!" Harry said, "I never even knew magic existed until today."

There were a few moments filled with awkward silence before Harry spoke-up and asked, "So, how long does this usually last?"

"Oh, right!" Steven said, before grabbing his stomach and closing his eyes in concentration as he groaned a few times, before hitting his stomach.

"What are you doing?" asked Harry, sounding worried yet slightly amused.

"It, uh, doesn't seem to want to go away," Steven told him a little awkwardly. After Harry's reply of "Oh" Steven went over to the side of the bubble and started trying to push it, and after a few moments without success Harry came over to help him.

"So, I've only seen you around once before. Why is that?" Steven asked as they slowly made their way towards the temple.

"My family just moved here a few weeks ago," Harry began, "And I not usually allowed out of the house. In fact, this is my first time seeing the ocean."

"I go on adventures with the Gems sometimes," Steven said, adding some information about himself.

"Really? Like where?" Harry asked him.

"Well," Steven began, "Once we went to this tower in the middle of the ocean called the Lunar Sea Spire…"

The two boys continued talking to each other as they tried to roll the bubble to the temple, but just as they got close they were stopped by a hill that made it impossible for them to continue going. After there failure the two boys tried many different ways to get help at Steven's insistence.

First they went to the big donut where they met up with Lars and Sadie. Sadie tried to break the bubble while Lars just stood their making fun of Steven and Harry. She tried a hammer first, and when that didn't work she tried to break a chair over it to pop the bubble, but still the bubble wouldn't yield.

Next, they tried to get little Onion to use his father's harpoon-gun to break the bubble, but when that they quickly gave up and moved on once again.

Finally they made it to Funland, where they tried to break the bubble by getting it by the roller coaster, even though Harry protested. Instead of breaking all that happened when they were struck was that the bubble was sent into the ocean.

"Where are we?" Harry asked Steven because during their flight through the air his glasses had fallen off and he couldn't see without them.

Steven handed Harry his glasses as he said "At the bottom of the ocean."

"What?!" Harry yelped, sounding disbelieving yet scared as he quickly put his glasses back on.

"It's okay!" Steven said quickly, "I'm pretty sure were close to the beach."

"You're pretty sure?!" Harry nearly yelled, before saying, slightly hysterically, "That doesn't matter! What happens if the bubble pops while we're under water! I don't know how to swim!"

"Don't worry, Harry!" Steven said, "It's okay! I have an idea that will definitely work, but for now let's just get rolling."

Harry, somewhat in shock, just followed his directions as they began rolling in what they assumed was the direction of the shore. Suddenly, out of nowhere, with a large screeching sound a huge eel-like monster appeared swimming through the water above them.

Harry just looked at in slight fear and massive awe, while Steven said, "Cool! A giant worm!" Before he noticed Harry's fear and said, "It's okay, look it only wants to eat that bright stuff."

And, indeed it appeared the worm's only interest was in the iridescent glowing kelp.

"See," Steven said, gently, "Not scary at all."

All of a sudden, the creature let loose a horrible screech and began to tunnel through the earth below it. This caused cracks to appear on the ocean floor, and then the ground beneath Steven and Harry's bubble gave out and they fell deep within the earth.

"Uuh," Steven groaned as they finally stopped falling, but then he noticed his flip-flop was directly in Harry's face, so he quickly moved before saying, "Uh, sorry! Are you alright?" He quickly helped Harry into a standing position before continuing, "It's not so bad. Uh, it-it's okay! Uh-" But than Harry cut him off.

"It's not okay!" He yelled at Steven, "You keep saying that, but you have no idea what you're doing! Now we're going to suffocate or starve at the bottom of the ocean, and only my family will notice but they won't even care!"

"Huh?" Steven made a confused sound.

"I'm going to die without ever having anyone who actually cares about me." Harry said as tears began to make their way down his cheeks. He fell on his bottom and covered his eyes with his hands as he began to cry in earnest.

Suddenly, Harry noticed a pink glow, and he uncovered his eyes and saw Steven kneeling down in front of him with a glow-stick bracelet in his hands, and he said, "I care about you," With a warm smile on his face.

Harry blinked his eyes at him and Steven continued by saying, "I saw you at the boardwalk parade a few weeks dropped your bracelet. I picked it up, but then I couldn't find you. I saved it in the freezer so that it would last longer, just in case I saw you again."

"Oh!" Harry said in realization, eyes beginning to dry, "You were the kdi on the car wash float. You had soap bubbles in your hair." He said the last part with a slight chuckle.

Steven laughed too and said, "I was supposed to be a scrub-brush," and they then both started to laugh. "I'm sorry Harry," He said as he grabbed Harry's hand and put his bracelet on his arm for him. "If I had just returned your bracelet back than, you wouldn't be stuck in this bubble with me now."

"No, it's okay," Harry said, "This is the most exciting thing to ever happen in my life. I'm having fun." And with that the bubble popped.

Steven quickly grabbed Harry's arm and began to swim up towards the surface with Harry copying his movements in order to speed up their momentum. After nearly a full minute of swimming they made it to the surface.

After a few moments of coughing they both burst into laughter, but it was quickly cut off by the screeching of the worm monster as it burst from the water right behind them, causing the two children to be washed up on the shore.

They quickly got up, and as Harry noticed the creature making its way quickly towards the two of them he grabbed Steven's arm and pulled him forward. "Come on," Harry yelled as they ran away from the monster.

Steven ran towards the dock while ran towards the rocks and yelled, "Hide in the rocks Steven!", but as they separated the monster continued it's chase of Harry. Steven looked over as it chased him and noticed Harry's bracelet.

"Bright stuff!" he gasped, and then he yelled, "Harry!", and he ran towards Harry. When he reached him he said, "Give me the bracelet!", and, without question, Harry complied. "Now run that way!" Steven yelled as he pushed Harry in the opposite direction of the one Steven himself was running in.

Steven ran around under the docks, swerving, bobbing, and weaving around the columns as the monster chased him. Finally, he reached back to where Harry was standing and he stopped running, and as he did the monster stopped chasing him. Though, it didn't stop because it wanted to. The only reason it stopped chasing the two boys was because it was tied up under the docks.

As the two boys stood their, watching the beast try to get to them, they both grabbed each others hand. And just seconds after they did the dock collapsed on top of the monster, and with a 'Poof!' the monster vanished.

Just as the giant worm disappeared the three other Crystal Gems appeared running towards the two boys. "Steven!" All three of them yelled.

"Steven!" Pearl yelled, "What's going on?! What did you do?!"

"He was incredible!" Harry shouted, and with those final words a friendship was formed that would, one day, change the entire the entire universe.
