Lament to the Sea
By: Aniron
I sing to you, can you hear me calling?
O'er the sea, the wind flies
Carrying tidings of a far off place
Sweet smells, faint songs
A light shines on the horizon
As a storm builds at my back
The land darkens behind me
The gulls cry and my heart yearns
I long to see you, my love
To hear your voice
To touch your skin
But you are gone, and I am alone
The winds carry no evidence
Of a long gone race
Even the trees and stones have forgotten them
But I remember
I remember the light in the forests
The bright eyes like stars
The banners waving proudly
The arrows and the spears
The beauty of the world, and the voices in the air
My people standing proudly in the wind
Your smiling face under the stars,
But now it is all gone, and I am alone
The golden woods are empty
No light shines forth from the stars
The rivers and streams stand silent
The air is dark and the land is dirty
The sea flows gently in the wind
Calling me to ride upon the waves
And follow my kindred home
Home to where the stars shine brightly
But the silver ships have all gone
My people have gone
They wait for me, calling my name
But I can only barely hear it on the wind
So I sing to my people, to my love
I sing that I cannot follow, though I yearn to
Though my heart is with you, I cannot come
I sing to you, can you hear me calling?
