…
Red, a primary color, a warm color, a color connected with the emotion of love. The color of apples, of raspberries, of cherries, and of strawberries. The color of valentine hearts, of trees in the fall, of roses, and of the juicy inside of a watermelon. The highest arc on the rainbow. The color that all Gryffindors wear with pride. The color of marks on a failed essay. The same color as Ginny Weasley's hair.
The color of blood.
Blood- red, sticky, and so wrong, oh, so wrong…
Blood, it isn't something you want to see, not on somebody's outside. That's not where it belongs, not at all. You need it to keep your heart beating, an essential of life.
He looked at his hands and saw only blood. His hands, they were covered in blood, blood that was definitely not his own. So many people, Lupin, Tonks, Snape, Fred, Colin, Dobby, Mad-Eye, Hedwig, Sirius, Cedric, Dumbledore… and too many more to name them all. All dead, gone, and never coming back.
But it wasn't really there, that despicable blood. At least, not to everyone else. To the rest of the world he was Harry James Potter, the boy who lived. The defeater of the feared Lord Voldemort. Savior of the Wizarding World. But to himself, he was nothing but a murderer. He would never be able to wash the blood off his hands.
