Summary: Edward's point of view during the torturous first Biology class.

Her scent was so delectable, he had to taste it, he needed the blood that ran through her viens like a human needed oxygen to survive. The moment that he breathed in her scent, freesa and strawberry, he knew that he would not be able to contain himself. Her life was forfeit to his hunger, his thirst. And then...she looked at him with those doe-like brown eyes and he could see himself reflecting, something cold and monsterous. She was scared and embarrassed and he couldn't help but compare his prey to a deer yet again. Carlisle, he remember distantly through the fog he had been reduced to, would be very unhappy if he killed an entire class of teenagers.

I can wait...after school I'll lead her to the woods and--NO! She's innocent, she doesn't deserve to die! Carlisle would be so disappointed, Rosalie would be insufferable, I suppose the only one who would be happy about it would be Jasper. He would be delighted to know that he is not the only one struggling to maintain our diet.

She moved, her hair falling to hide her face and the rush of blood that flooded her cheeks from his prying eyes. He had to resist the urge to reach over and feel the thin skin that contains her viens, feel the heat that must radiate off her human body. She was so pale and he could see the blue viens of her delicate wrist, what he would do just for a taste --no, no, not good! I need to distract myself somehow. Esme would be heartbroken to leave Forks, she's put so much effort to remodel the house, I can not do this to her. Alice should have seen this! Why has she not gotten me out of class? Does she feel compelled to damn a whole class?

Reaching out, he searched for Alice's mind and found that she knew nothing about the girl, she had been worrying about Jasper all day instead. Frowning he glanced down at the girl, Bella Swan, trying to remember what he knew about her. Trying to distract himself from her compelling scent. She was the daughter of the Police Chief and she was from Arizona, but that was all he knew, it was much harder to get information when he could not hear a thing. She shifted again, glancing up at him and met his glare only to quickly look away while biting her lip anxiously. He barely restrained himself from pouncing on her and could not have been more thankful when Mr. Banner distracted him with an enthusiastic lecture on mitosis that managed to catch his attention. Only to quickly lose it once more when she moved yet again. Did she have any idea what she was doing to him? It was like she was sent from Hell to torture him. And it was working.

I could follow her home and then get my fill of her delicious blood, the Chief shouldn't be home until after dark and I could always take care of him beforehand if he is home. His demon rumbled, I need her blood! So warm and succulent, I'm sure it will be the closest thing to heaven I will ever experience. He growled low in his throat, losing himself to his insticts for a fraction of a second and heard the tell-tale sound of the table breaking under his grip. Isabella turned her wide, frightened eyes on him and he felt a moment of regret before he lurched forward as the bell rang. How he wished for just a taste...

Saved by the bell, Ms. Swan, I hope you will never have an idea of how close you just came to death. He had made his decision, he would go to Denali, getting away from this demon whose scent haunted him, he hoped Esme would not be so terribly disappointed.
