Just a little narrative i had to write for English! let me know what you think!
I have a secret. Nobody knows it- not my parents or my brother. Not even my best friend.
I killed the janitor! It was an accident, I swear!
Walking home I think about it. What if I wasn't running late? What if I had left school at the normal dismissal time? Maybe I wouldn't have knocked him of that ladder. He fell pretty hard, and I was sure he would be ok, but I couldn't find a pulse, so I did what any normal, scared child would do, I ran. Pretending I never saw him.
I thought of how I quickly paced through the halls of the school, the front door the only thought on my mind. How as I turned that final corner and screamed as I collided with someone. It was Mr Figs.
"Hi Mr Figs!" I said my voice crackling.
"Oh hello there Miss Jody, heading home are we?" he asked, cheery as usual.
"Yeah!" I replied. I walked past him and waved goodbye. I thought of how my heart raced when I halted at the sound of his voice. "You haven't seen Mr Andrews have you? The janitor?"
I replied with a simply "No" as I shook my head and pushed through the door, continuing my journey home.
My feet still don't seem to be walking as fast as I want them too and the road seems longer than usual.
I continued my usual path, eyes on the ground.
"Hey Jody!" I heard a familiar voice yell. It was my best friend Christie, standing on the opposite side of the street. I smiled and greeted her, as I normally would.
Would she sense something's up? I thought.
She began to talk about boys and I just nodded as I thought about home, where no one would be able to know I killed him. I would be safe.
Then a sound emerged from the distance. It grew louder ever second making my heart race, making it beat so hard it could burst out of my chest.
The car came around the corner and I knew I was busted, " I have to go!" I said interrupting Christie's lecture on the football team.
I continued walking at a fast pace. The car drew nearer the sirens ringing in my ear. They know! I thought.
The police car drove past me and continued down the street, and at that moment I said a little prayer.
That night, I tossed and turned. I knew I had to tell. I couldn't lie! I had managed to get through the day without hinting to anyone I was I was in trouble, but how long could I do that for?
So it was decided, the following morning I walked through the school doors, bright and early, with my head held high, and made my way to the principal's office. As I walked in he looked at me in surprise.
I shut the door and blurted it out. "I did it!"
I was expecting a look of shame, or the principal to pick up the phone, but instead, he looked at me in confusion.
"I killed the Janitor!" I stated.
The principal burst into laughter.
He obviously didn't believe me, "I did! But it was an accident, I swear!"
He continued laughing and when he finally caught his breath he spoke.
"Jody the Janitors fine, he broke his arm, but he isn't dead!" he chuckled a little more as I left the room.
Relief washed over me, I didn't have a secret after all.
