A/N: Part one in a series that Quicquidlibet and I are both doing. We start with the same female trait, but she expands upon it within the KND fandom, while I've got Naruto, which I DO NOT OWN.
This has been an extremely long time in coming, but I present the first trait:
Tenacity.
"Why does she keep getting back up?"
It is an absolute mystery how the Hyūga chick keeps taking hits like that, but she keeps standing back up, even as her legs sway beneath her, even as blood drips from the corner of her mouth, even as her arms battle her instructions, even as Hyūga Neji just. Keeps. Going.
Kankurou shakes his head in disbelief.
"Either she's an idiot or she's got a bone to pick."
Temari laughs drily, watching the battle in boredom.
"If she wanted revenge, she'd do it some other way. Do you see how meek she is? She's done nothing this fight but get knocked down and stand back up."
"Then why does she stand back up?" Kankurou shoots back. "Why doesn't she just give up?"
Temari shakes her head, an amused smirk on her lips.
"It's the first thing you should know about women. We're tenacious as fuck. Why else do you think we always get in the last word?"
"What are you talking about?" Kankurou sneers. "I win arguments all the time!"
Temari counters his boast with a single word.
"Proof."
Kankurou opens his mouth to reply, but pauses when he realizes there really isn't anything relevant he can say.
He scowls, closing his mouth as he turns back to the fight.
The Hyūga girl shouts something about her nindo, her ninja way, and Kankurou watches intently, studying the male Hyūga's finishing blow.
Out of the corner of his eye, Temari smiles slightly, as if to say 'I told you so.'
Kankurou sulks slightly, but turns in interest as Temari pulls out her first fan, one of the few sentimental momentos she lets herself keep. On it she inscribes what Kankurou supposes is her own personal nindo.
Fall down seven times, get back up eight.
And Kankurou finally feels as though he understands.
"Just so you know, you still don't."
Kankurou rolls his eyes with a scoff as Temari lets out a chuckle.
Because even if he doesn't understand quite yet, Temari will never let him forget it.
Temari is his sister, yes, but before she was his sister, she was just a girl and girls are, in Temari's words, tenacious. As. Fuck.
