"And that's it for tonight's celebrity manhunt, thanks for tuning in everyone," Blainley said as the camera turned off and she left the table. The blonde host walked over to catering for Cody was sitting, munching on a bowl of barbecue chips and playing his game guy.
"Great show tonight Blainley," he said through a mouthful of chips. "And when did you guys start having barbecue chips in catering?"
"Well I know they're your favorite so I made an arrangement with the catering people," she replied with a slight laugh.
"Really, thanks Blainley!" He exclaimed as he looked back at his game.
"Did you get all your homework done?" She asked with a hint of concern in her voice.
"Yes mom," he sarcastically replied as he kept playing.
"Look I know I'm not your parent or anything Cody but I don't want you falling behind in school because you're here all afternoon not doing work," she replied.
"Don't worry Blainley I got it done," he said, "besides if I was at home during the afternoon I wouldn't get any work gone."
"Yes yes I know, because crazy Sierra has four to seven pm blocked off as stalk Cody time," she said, "that's the reason I let you hang out at the studio all day in the first place dork," she added as she ruffled his hair.
"Hey quit it," he said with a laugh as he tried to fix his hair, "admit it, you like me hanging out here."
"Okay fine, you make better company than most of these bozos and you make good musical bumpers."
"See, I'm practically an employee here," he said as he stood up and grabbed his back pack.
"Sure," she said as she rolled her eyes, "and I'm practically your babysitter."
"Are not," he said adamantly.
"Whining doesn't prove your point," she said in a sing song voice as they started heading outside. They walked over to Blainley's car and started heading towards Cody's house.
"Can we stop for Dinner?" Cody asked immediately after leaving the parking lot.
"You just were at the catering table!" She exclaimed, "why are you hungry."
"Well they didn't have burgers," he said with a pout as he looked down and twiddled his thumbs.
"Fine," she grumbled as she headed towards a drive thru. She got her and Cody dinner and they continued on their drive. "You better not spill any food in my car Cody," she said as she sipped her drink.
"I know I know, if I do I'll be walking home."
"That's right," she said happily, "so are things at school?"
"Ever since I switched schools to get away from Sierra things have been great!" The lanky teen said excitedly. "Now that I'm not having to dodge her everyday I've managed to focus better and get straight A's"
"Good, I'm proud of you," she said. "It's good that you get to finally be a normal teen again and not have to worry about a stalker like her. Have you made many new friends at your school?"
"A few I suppose, the guys in the D&D club, the people I street pass in pokemon, but who cares about them when I get to hang out with an awesome girl like you."
"Cody," she said hesitantly, "you know I'm not like the girls in your class."
"You're right, you're better, you have an awesome job, we hang out, you listen to me, you're like my"
"Older sister," she interjected. Cody looked at her with a frown as she sighed and continued. "I'm like ten years older than you Cody. You're a good kid and I like hanging out with you I really do, but I'm not some high school pal, I'm an adult, I basically babysit you."
"But it's not babysitting," he said.
"What else do you expect me to call it Cody," she said.
"I dunno, dating?" He said with a tinge of hope in his voice.
She sighed and stopped the car, "Cody, you're a sweet boy really you are, but I'm not your girlfriend. I have loved having you at the studio these last few weeks, you're nice to everyone, you calm me down when I get mad, you're good in a pinch with the equipment, and you always make everyone laugh. Of all the total drama contestants you're the only one who's kind to me."
"If the others got a chance to know you and hang out with you," he started before being cut off.
"No Cody, they wouldn't like me. I was a complete and total famemonging jerk when I was on world tour and nobody in the cast is kind enough to forgive me for that except you. Even Owen's still mad at me for a comment I made about Izzy," she said throwing her hands up in frustration. You are easily my best friend Cody, but I can't be your girlfriend." She said as she looked at him with a half smile.
"Okay Blainley," he said, "I understand, you're my best friend too," he said with the same half smile.
"Good," she said as she tried not to get emotional. "Now get out of the car."
"But, this isn't my house," he said in confusion.
"No dork it's the comic shop, today's Wednesday isn't it?"
"Oh Ya, the new books come out today."
"Come on, my treat," she said as they got out of the car and went inside.
After about thirty minutes they came back out and got in the car. "Ready to go home," she said.
"Yeppers," he replied with a laugh as he put the two bags of comics in the backseat.
"I will never understand your fascination with those," she said as she began to drive the rest of the way to Cody's house.
"They have good stories," the teen argued.
"So you keep telling me," she replied with a smile. They finally pulled into his driveway and Cody went to get out of the car. "Wait," she said, "you almost forgot something."
"What? I got both bags," he said, "what did I forget?" She leaned over and gave the teen a hug before smiling.
"Goodnight Cody," she said.
"Goodnight Blainley," he said as he went inside, grinning from ear to ear.
