Chloe walked out to her car after a long day of working at the Daily Planet. It was stressful as her deadline for a story she'd been writing was in just a week and she had reached a dead end. Her only source for this story had just committed suicide a few hours after she had spoken to him the previous night. It was an ex-employee for Luther Corp who had left the company on a bad note. He didn't agree with the types of experiments they were performing and stormed out after months of putting up with it. He made it very clear that Chloe could only use his story if he remained completely anonymous. The public was not even allowed to know his gender. This was a very dangerous thing for him to do but he felt that he needed to get this information out to the public that Luther Corp is not all that it seems.

The fog was thick tonight which always made walking out to her car a little eerie, but she was tough, she told herself. With all of her past experiences, darkness was nothing to fear. She could tell herself that, but she knew it was still terrifying. It was finally starting to feel like Fall weather. Temperatures were dropping below 60 and the leaves were just starting to change color. This was Chloe's favorite time of year. The atmosphere was just different. People seemed to be nicer now that the holidays were coming up.

Her thoughts were interrupted as she stepped into her car. She turned the key and the engine came to life. She left the parking lot of the Daily Planet to signify another ending to a stressful day. Home could not come fast enough.

I wonder what Clark is up to, she wondered. We haven't spoken in almost a week. It's not typical for us. She thought about calling her friend to see if he wanted to catch up, but decided against it. She really didn't feel like going anywhere but to her bed tonight. She sat at a red light for what felt like hours while the lights kept cycling, but the green arrow that would allow her to take a left never turned. She decided to just gun it. It was almost midnight and there was no one on the road. She didn't want to wait any longer. She gave the car a little gas and proceeded through the intersection. All of a sudden, everything stopped. She saw bright lights which lead to a crash loud crash followed by her being jostled around the front seat of the car. Her head smashed upon the drivers' side window and cracked it. She was out cold.

She was awoken by a man opening her door and unbuckling her seat belt.

"Are you alright? Jesus, my light was green. What the hell were you thinking?"

"I… I'm sorry. I have no idea what just happened. Are you ok?"

"I'm fine, kid. What's your name, anyways? Do you want me to call somebody?"

"Chloe… Chloe Sullivan. Just call the police. I don't want to worry my family."

"Sullivan, eh? Sounds familiar. You that reporter for the Daily Planet?" Chloe felt slightly embarrassed and confused that he knew who she was. She'd only been with the company for a few years. She didn't think she had any kind of following whatsoever.

"Yeah… That's m…" Her sentence was interrupted by a sharp punch to the head. With her current injuries, she was in no state to fight back. She collapsed onto the street and passed out.
