"Raggy." The boy inconspicuously called out peering under the desk "I know you're here c'mere Raggy"
"Umm…Switch?" I sat on the desk "What exactly are you doing under there?" My temporary partner. Switch, is a rookie on the field. Despite his being naturalist with a knife, this is only his second job on the field
"Looking for a rag!" he yelled as I swiftly whipped out a blue spotted rag "Oh. Thanks"
"Now can I know why you need a rag? I smiled
"Splotches, my dear Juliet. Splotches"
" Uhuh You know Switch millions of years from now. They're gonna create some disease for people like you." I laughed "You know that."
"I like my knives clean. Is that a problem?" He asked skeptically sitting on the cushy sofa wiping his switch knife.
I shrugged "I didn't say that"
Switch and I work with a group, whose job is to keep "immortals" under raps. Immortals were a group of alchemist trying to achieve immortality by praying to the devil on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Unbeknownst to others, they succeeded. We currently know of seven immortals. Our boss disguised us as part of the mafia. Gave us the name Runorata.
"Julie" Switch sat up with a grim face and leaned forward "Someone's coming up to the door. They don't sound happy"
I grabbed my automatic. A few seconds later, I heard some brief yet angry knocks. Besides his amazing knife skills, Switch has excellent hearing. He can hear anything within a 5 mile radius.
"Yes?" I asked opening the door while hiding my gun behind me. I saw four men, and they did not look happy
"Who're you" the tall gruff man demanded getting closer to me. Closer then comfortable. Out of habit, I swiftly lifted my hand and slapped him in the face.
"Ha!" The redhead broke out in a smile "That's what you get for mishandling a lady. Better let me handle this Berga"
He stepped forward, pushing Berga out of the way, as he offered his hand "Claire Stanfield, malady, and you are? Certainly not a Runorata. You're much to pretty" he laughed
I loosened my shoulders and laughed grasped his hand "I'm Juliet Runorata, eldest daughter of the Runorata"
"Juliet, as in the legendary Runorata assassin, also known as the ruby rose." The blonde one turned to look at me with a grim face "Am I right?"
I shifted my weight to lean on the doorframe "You are correct kind sir; I am indeed the Runorata's ruby rose assassin"
"Is it true that you can shoot an automatic from ten miles away and still hit your target" he continued to stare
"My, hasn't your mother told you it's rude to ask people personal questions?" I smirked slightly
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I heard my brother, Tanner opening his door heading for the stairs. He despised Gandors.
I slightly frowned and turned back to the door "Alright, if you wanna live I suggest you get on with your business and get out of here"
"Why so unfriendly?" Claire asked smiling
"Oh I'm not. My brother is." I frowned. Tanner Runorata, one of the most feared Mafioso in the district. I briskly grabbed a piece of paper of the desk and wrote my personal phone number on it. "Here" I shoved it at the blonde one "Call me later." I slammed the door just as Tanner came down the stairs
"Who was that?" he asked
"No one" I grinned as I ran up the door to my room
As soon as I got to my third floor room I opened the window to see them. They were almost five miles away. The street was clear so I shot a few paces in front of them in a pattern that read-JUST IF YOU WANTED TO KNOW, YES, YES I CAN. I swear I saw the blonde one practically jump out of his skin.
