Shattered Hearts

I don't tell you I love you anymore…

Sakura sighed as she watched Sasuke from a distance. He sat silently, his head resting on his hands as he stared into nothingness.

Because I know it doesn't matter…

A breeze blew threw the Sakura's hair. It also carried the delicate, soft pink pedals of cherry blossoms through the air as crystal tears fell from Sakura's eyes.

Flashback

Sasuke and Sakura sat together on a secluded branch of a tree in the middle of the infinite forest. The night air was chilly and a light breeze blew fragile leaves through the air as Sakura desperately tried to find the words to break the icy silence between them.

This is how it had been between them for the last week and a half. Sakura would try in vain to bring a smile to Sasuke's face only to be met by suffocating silence from Sasuke. The two had been dating for a month and Sakura thought that they were happy but lately…

Lately Sasuke has seemed so distant…

Sakura sighed silently as she watched Sasuke stare into the dark, lonely night. Somehow Sakura had gotten Sasuke to agree to come out with her that night but even then he had hardly spoken a word.

Sasuke…

Sakura slid closer to Sasuke and laid her head on his shoulder. Tears escaped from her eyes a few moments later when Sasuke failed to move a muscle. Sakura remembered the days when Sasuke would put his arm around her whenever she rested her head on his shoulder. That small gesture was enough to tell Sakura that Sasuke cared. But now...

But now I wonder if Sasuke cares at all…

Sakura removed her head from Sasuke's shoulder, realizing that Sasuke wasn't going to show any sign of affection whatsoever.

"Sasuke, why won't you talk to me?"

The words escaped from Sakura's soul as she felt as if she was about to burst. Sasuke, however, said nothing.

"Sasuke?"

Silence.

"Sasuke can you hear me?"

More silence.

"Damn it Sasuke, say something!" Sakura cried slapping Sasuke across the face.

Finally Sasuke looked to his companion, his girlfriend. Though it bothered him to see her crying he knew he had to be strong. He had to say the words that he was trying so hard to delay for as long as possible. It was time.

"Sakura."

"I'm listening Sasuke," Sakura said, relieved that Sasuke was finally saying something.

"I don't want to see you anymore."

End Flashback

Those words hit Sakura hard as did the ease with which Sasuke had said that sentence. That was it. That's how it all came to an end.

He didn't even give me a reason why…

Sakura closed her eyes and wept silently.

I'll never say I love you anymore, but that doesn't mean that I don't love you…

Sakura didn't notice Sasuke hold out his hand to the sky. She never noticed the delicate cherry blossom dance into his outreached hand. The moment that Sakura walked away was the moment that a single tear fell into the center of the tiny bloom.

Sakura… I might've said that I don't want to see you anymore but the truth is that I still love you…

Ixi: My first Naruto one shot. How was it? I'm a huge fan of the SakuraSasuke pairing, I honestly couldn't see Sakura with any of the other guys on the show. Also, I like to see the emotional side of Sasuke every once in a while because, after all, he's a person and not a machine. I hope this turned out well! I hope to start my full-blown, multi-chaptered Naruto fic soon.
