The Avatar and his friends sat on a grassy hill, laughing and chatting and enjoying a picnic. The war was over, birds were singing, and they were waiting for the comet so they could watch it sail across the sky.

Despite not being visible, the comet still had some effect on firebenders. It made them feel invincible, like they had an unbeatable power within them. It made them over-confident, and over-confident people did stupid things.

Which is probably why Zuko decided to kiss Katara without warning.

The waterbender let out a squeak of surprise, eyes widening at the unexpected kiss. The chatter of the group died. All gazes turned to the pair. Zuko pulled away, grinning in smug satisfaction. Katara's face had turned deep red; a colour he thought looked quite nice on her.

A cough from Toph caught their attention.

Some of the prince's modesty and rational thought seemed to return. He laughed nervously, scratching the back of head. Everyone was silent. A pigeon-snake chirped cheerfully from one of the trees.

"I saw it coming," Toph finally said, breaking the tension.

"Yeah, you two did seem a bit lovey-dovey," Sokka admitted.

All eyes landed on Aang. Surely, the boy must have been hear-broken, seeing his crush kissing his friend...

The Avatar shrugged. "Roku told me you were the reincarnations of star-crossed lovers, so I kinda saw it coming, too."

With that, the awkwardness dissipated, and the group continued their picnic as though uninterrupted.

Author's Notes: Obviously, this is a bit of a crack!fic, and should not be taken seriously. I wrote it for giggles. xD
