It had been eleven years since the Battle of Hogwarts; the constant fear and ever rising death toll had come to a standstill. The reconstruction of magic Britain took little over a year to be fully complete, with great effort being put in to ensure that Hogwarts would be ready to re-open within three months after the war. While the castle may have been fit for habitation, many beds remained empty. It would take many years for the scars of the war to fade.
The Burrow had never been so full this early in the morning in a long time. It was eight o'clock and everyone had crowded into the tiny Weasley kitchen. Arthur Weasley sat at the head of the table, laughing as he was being bombarded by cards. Charlie had arrived home from Romania especially for this day; Bill and Fleur had come to visit with their two daughters, ten year old Victoire and six year old Dominique. Percy had managed to get the day off work to take part in the impromptu family reunion with George and Angelina arriving with four year old Fred. Ron and Hermione had also dropped by stating that they would be making an announcement later in the day; and finally Harry, seven months pregnant Ginny and five year old James had collected Teddy from his grandmothers before making their way to the Burrow.
Once everything calmed down and all cards but one were handed out, the children went out to play in the garden. Teddy, however was rather reluctant to join in the fun; he loved going to the Burrow, he really did but today all he wanted was to be somewhere else. He watched without seeing as James and Fred began living up to their namesakes and chased a screaming Victoire around the garden, nor did he find amusement in seeing little Dominque's mop of blonde hair sticking out from one of the bushes ready to scare her sister when she ran past.
After fifteen minutes of staring off into space, a fed up Teddy made his way back inside to see if Harry could bring him now instead of later. He entered the kitchen, where all the adults were laughing around the table.
"Harry?" Harry turned to the source of the tap on the shoulder, still laughing.
"What's wrong Teddy?"
"Can we go now?" Harry smiled, knowing how important this was for him.
"Of course we can. Just hold on a minute." He turned back to the table, "Hermione, what did you want to tell us?"
Hermione and Ron shared a look, beaming at each other before Hermione practically squealed "I'm pregnant!" There was a silent beat before the table erupted, everyone in the room began to congratulate the pair loudly, ecstatic at the thought of yet another addition to the Weasley Family.
While the celebrations continued, Teddy was beginning to get impatient and grabbed Harry's hand in an attempt to drag him out of the chair. Harry finally got the message and Ted managed to get him out of the chair, he had to wait another moment as Harry told Ginny where they were going but then they were off.
…
Even in June, the cemetery did not lose its' cold breeze and the ground was slightly slippery as they wove through the far too many graves resting in Hogsmeade. Teddy clutched the card in his hand tightly as they came to the grave they wanted to see at the edge of the sixth row from the back mossy wall.
Teddy let go of Harry's hand and ran up to the grave of his father, He sat on the ground not caring about the wet soil sticking to his hands and jeans; he began telling Remus Lupin about how his summer was going and how Harry had promised to take him to the upcoming Quidditch World Cup Final in France in August. He then told him how he was so excited about starting Hogwarts in September and turning towards his mother's grave he spoke of how his grandmother was already setting up extra ground rules.
"She warned me that if I was to get anywhere near as many detentions in my first year as you did mum, I will be disowned"
He told them about all the pranks that James and Fred had pulled on their cousins, but however funny he found them, he hoped that the babies that Ginny and Hermione were going to have wouldn't be as crazy – two was bad enough.
He talked himself hoarse for hours barely noticing that sun had risen to its' highest and the smell of lunch wafting through the cemetery from Hogsmeades' main street. When all his stories were said he finally took out the card and placed it in front of the gravestone; Harry, who had been leaning against a tree with a sad smile on his face the entire time, knelt beside him and cast a quick spell to ensure that the card wouldn't be blown away in the wind.
They sat there a moment or two longer in reflective silence before Harry squeezed Ted's shoulder to let him know it was time to go and with a heavy sigh they got up to head back to the Burrow, but this time Teddy wasn't so reluctant. He turned back to the gravestone one last time with a small smile;
"Happy Father's Day, Dad."
