Who Needs A Watchdog? When You Have Lucas Scott
Leyton one-shot :D based around 406... R&R :D
Peyton not for the first time that night had tossed and turned and woke with a start, all thoughts and dreams were occupied by the malice that was Derek. Her eyes tried to focus in the dark room, but she found herself conjuring up images of Derek everywhere a malicious grin on his face, it's like she couldn't escape him, she quickly turned to her left side and found Lucas lying on his front his face towards her, Peyton let out a shaky breath that she didn't even know she was holding. Her eyes softened as she watched him, he looked so peaceful but he also looked worried, he had looked like that all week.
Peyton was so thankful that she was here with him right now, he made her feel sane, safe and secure, he seemed to block out all the badness in her world, even now as he slept, for to friends that shared the same bed they slept so close, Lucas's face was only a few inches away from her own, she needed his closeness, Peyton let a tear slip down onto the pillow unnoticed. Lucas however didn't, Peyton was surprised when she felt his hand on her cheek as he swept away the lone tear, shortly after blue eyes were meeting green.
"Hey, are you okay?" Lucas's eyes were filled with concern
Peyton chose sarcasm." Ask me again in a year (sighing)…..no"
Lucas let out an affectionate sigh and rubbed her arm. "I'm here Peyton, you're safe here"
Peyton closed her eyes; she didn't want to cry again.
It was breaking Lucas's heart seeing her like this, broken, undone.
He saw Peyton open her eyes slowly, eyes that were misty with unshed tears, she looked scared and lost, he wished he could take all her pain away.
Lucas heard Peyton choke back a sob, and that was it all his resolve was gone, he pulled Peyton into his embrace and held her tight which she fully reciprocated, she was more or less lying on top of him, she let it all out as she clang on to him for dear life as Lucas in turn stroked her back soothingly as the rain trickled down the window.
Peyton buried her face into his chest trying to keep the monsters at bay.
"I'm scared Lucas"
Lucas spoke into her curls. "Of what?"
"All sorts of things"
Lucas kept his voice low." Like what?"
"People leaving me; losing you"
Lucas was surprised. "You're not going to lose me Peyton, ever, I won't leave you"
Peyton let herself smile into his chest, and looked up at him." I'm gonna hold you to that"
Lucas smiled at her and gently tugged at her hand." You should get some rest, Peyton"
He saw her hesitance, but then she smiled." Can I stay here? You make an excellent pillow"
Lucas laughed." sure"
Peyton fell asleep a little while later, as Lucas just watched her and rubbed her back gently listening to the falling rain; there was no other waking up in the middle night with a start for Peyton.
