Moonlight

Moonlight falls in white beams,

White washed dreams

Brightening the night,

And shortening the shadows.

The white light gives off no warmth,

It simply lightens the night,

Almost turning it into day.

-----------------

The lovers lay together in the moonlight.

Uncaring and oblivious

To anything but each other.

The stars sparkle like diamonds,

The mountains are distant peaks,

The sea a pool of colour,

The waves a distant roar.

--------------

The white moonlight enhances

His long white hair

And smooth alabaster skin.

Highlighting his high cheekbones

Gold eyes look into brown,

Her darker hair and feminine features

Also in sharp contrast.

---------------

They forget all else.

Friend or foe

Good or Evil

Love or Hate

Life and Responsibility

The Fight and Survival

They alone are real tonight in the Moonlight.

----------------

A moan,

A purr,

A groan,

A sigh,

A kiss,

Single moments of bliss.

---------------

Until it ends

And reality returns.

The world breaks in on them.

Forcing them apart,

Forcing them to leave each other once more.

Back to their separate lives

Until next time.

---------------

Until the next full moon

When they can be together once more.

In the moonlight.

I edited this version of the poem slightly.
