"You know mathematically you're beautiful."
Lila looks over the magazine to look at him. "What?"
"Your face.. It's symmetrical. The more symmetrical ones face means that people find them more attractive."
She cocks an eyebrow.
"Although, you're face…" He squints, studying her. "There are differences."
"so I'm not as mathematically beautiful? You just said-"
"No one's face is completely symmetrical. It's like statistically impossible."
She stares at him. "Okay."
"Math aside though, I still think you're breath-taking."
She smiles. "You're sweet."
"Well, I'm sure it's just the extra norepinephrine and dopamine that comes from-"
"Spencer, please don't finish that sentence."
"I was going to-"
"I know what you were going to say. You were going to say that the emotions are chemically based and yada yada yada, and I don't want to hear it."
He frowns. "No, I wasn't."
She sets down the book with a slight sigh. "Okay, Spence, what were you going to say, then?"
He folds his arms over his chest, with a pout. "I don't know if I want to say it now."
"Really, Spence?" She shakes her head before looking back at her magazine.
"Plus, it's not like admitting that it's chemical reactions means that that love isn't there." He mutters to himself and she lowers her magazine again.
"Love?"
"What?" He says, turning to her, confused.
"Did you just say you love me in your strange way?"
"I…uh… I…" He stumbles before looking at his fingernails. "Maybe."
She sets down the magazine before moving to grab his chin, raising his face to hers. "No maybes. Do you love me?"
He licks his lips, nervously, as they lock eyes. "I… ahh, Yes?"
It sounds like a question, but it's the closest he's ever come to saying it, so she kisses him.
"I love you too, you nerd."
