Title: Here I Am Without You
A/N: Title from "Stay" by Hurts. I missed a little bit of the season finale so if anything is wrong in that area of you know...stuff, just get over it. I ended it when I did because I didn't know how to end it without it sucking, sorry.

The blonde girl hugged the infant tightly to her chest as she rocked back and forth on the bench. He paused in his foot steps as he watched her from across the street, already knowing who she was but at the same time his mind fought that it wasn't really her.
It was impossible. Or rather, it was very unlikely, because with him, everything was possible. Amy tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around hesitantly and she raised an eyebrow at him.
"I need to check something, I'll meet you guys back at the TARDIS." He said with a small smile. "And don't even think of trying to take off without me."
The three companions didn't argue him, but didn't move either. They watched him cross the street to the bench were an unnamed blonde sat. He sat down next to her and she turned to him, giving a small smile and handing him the baby. He smiled down at it and then gave it back. He said something quietly and she looked away from him, shaking her head.
What was going on? The thought intruded all three of their minds and Amy knew something was wrong. Terribly wrong. River was the first to walk across the street and Amy followed after her, the motherly instinct kicking in, Rory following after Amy.
"How?" He asked, something in his voice made it sound like he'd been asking the question multiple times.
She dragged her free hand across her face, erasing the tears. "I don't know, there was a tornado and then...I was here."
"And...him?" He questioned her again, his voice slightly shaky.
"Gone..or dead. Or both." She choked out, tightening her hold on the child, it's dark brown eyes starring out at the sky and small tufts of brown hair sticking out under a white hat. "Everyone is gone, I suppose."
"That's impossible." He whispered, repeating something he'd thought less than a few minutes ago. "Really impossible, I don't-"
"Who's she?" River's voice cut in, the Doctor didn't even take his sight off of the blonde as she cradled the baby closer to her.
"-understand." He said, finishing his sentence with a small sigh. "Are you okay, though? Nothing wrong?"
"I'm perfectly fine." She answered. "Small cuts, I guess."
"Who's she?" River asked again, the Doctor gave a quick glance to her again before returning his focus back to her. River was growing impatient, like she wanted to smack him and the unknown girl.
"And you, Doctor? How did that happen?" She asked, waving a hand over to him. "I thought you were careful."
"I'm never careful." He said with a smile. "But it was a stupid accident, nothing to worry about."
"I always worry about you, Doctor." She admitted. "Even worried about you from all the way there. Always wondered if you'd come back as you or as someone...else."
"I didn't change." His smiled faltered and River tensed. He had changed, in a way. "Did you?"
"I got married." She admitted. "And then became a widow on my anniversary, can you believe that?" She let out a tiny laugh. "And I had her, named her Donna after that girl you traveled with. I liked her."
"I liked her, too." He let out a tiny sigh. "You married me though, right? Not anyone else?"
"Of course I married you, who else was there?"
"I s'pose that's true. I was rather cool in that body." She hit him playfully and River groaned.
"Doctor! Who is she?" River demanded, he glanced her way and his eyes met Amy's before he returned them to the blonde.
"She's Rose Tyler, a wonderful companion."
