"Where are we Mr. Transport?." A lanky man in a crisp black suit asked a Muscular man in a similar suit.
"Arizona Mr. Numbers." said a man who by simple elimination must be Mr. Transport.
"I thought we were supposed to go to Colorado, why are we here?"
"There was an incident and one of our prospects had to be moved to a facility for his specific needs."
Mr. Numbers nodded and the two men in crisp black suits entered a low concrete buildings front door expecting to see a low-rate security guard. But to there surprise a elderly man was waiting for them them in the lobby and as they entered said, "Good morning gentlemen I've been expecting you. My name is Doctor Hubert." Mr. Numbers cocked his eyebrow slightly and Mr. Transport replied with an almost imperceptible nod. This would take the place of a relevant conversation between the two on if the information was correct. Though this method was more efficient and allowed the two to take people by surprise when things weren't so congruent.
"We are here to see the young man if you could lead us to him." The taller muscular man replied.
"Of course you are but I must ask you to take off anything electrical watches, phones anything with a battery must go. I do hope neither of you has a pacemaker."
Neither Mr. Numbers or Mr. Transport had pacemakers but they did both carry expensive high-powered phones and top of the line watches along with a pair of taser guns. All of these were deposited in a small safe in the lobby area with Dr. Huberts adamant assurances that everything would be returned after they were done.
Neither showed any concerns about their valuables. Once that was done Dr. Hubert pulled out a candle a lit it and then repeated the action twice more handing one to each man. Dr. Hubert had expected the men to ask why they had to give up there electronics and then been handed a candle in the middle of the day. They did not.
Dr. Hubert lead the men down a dimly lit hallway covered in green tile they made there way down it coming to a solid steel door at the end. Dr. Hubert punched a few numbers into a small keypad and opened the door to total darkness. As the trio stepped through the door shut behind them and left them only their candles to see by.
As there eyes adjusted they realized they had entered into another hallway this one made out of concert with no doors on the side just another steel door at the end. Dr. Hubert began the walk down moving more briskly than he had before. Mr. Numbers observed that the deeper they went into the facility the more nervous Dr. Hubert became he filed that away and then began following a few paces away.
They made it through the hallway without trouble and stepped through the door to see a sizable concrete bunker with a large glass window peering into the room. Though both men strained they couldn't see what was on the other side of the glass.
"He's normally more stable than this." Dr. Hubert said, "But unfortunately he was trying to fix his toaster a few days ago and received a nasty electrical shock."
"Ah." said Mr. Numbers, "So that's why a quarter of Colorado lost power last week."
"Yes." Admitted Dr. Hubert, "before he was able to severe the connection he had drained his cities power supply along with all the cities around it. Were trying to help him burn off that electricity but it comes in spurts and is unpredictable.
"I see." said Mr. Transport.
"It's also effecting his natural abilities." continued Dr. Hubert, "That's why i had you remove all electrical appliances and why were keeping him out of the sunlight. He's been pulling from anything that gets remotely close to him."
As if on cue Mr. Numbers candle jerked violently towards the window and went dark. "I'm sorry he's not more stable today." Dr. Hubert apologized again.
"If he were he wouldn't be in consideration for our program." Mr. Numbers said eyes still trained on his dark candle.
Oh does that mean you still considering him as a possibility?" Dr. Hubert asked.
"There will be some preliminary testing and an interview process." said Mr. Transport, "But if I were to offer my opinion I would say we have a very viable candidate on the other side of that glass."
Two men suddenly appeared in a clearing of a forest. Mr. Numbers looked around and noticed that this wasn't a normal forest this forest felt old and dangerous. As he moved his eyes around the clearing he found a girl with long dark green hair and amber eyes sitting in front of a trailer and stared at her.
"That would be lovely." She said as the two men nodded and disappeared.
Six Months later.
Izuku adjusted his backpack on his other shoulder. Two months since the procedure had finished and still his body felt like it was aching and healing. He never remembered feeling like this beforehand but in all fairness there were plenty of things that hadn't existed before hand either. Although today was an excellent example of going through the program had yielded him. He was walking across the sprawling campus of U.A. High school blending in like a normal person. Well except his hair a part of him and hoped that a side effect of the procedure would make his hair become a normal color. Instead of the green and silver streaks that it was but no such luck.
Izuku had hoped he would have been able to just slip into the crowd just another face in the crowd but no such luck. Though being on the campus of the most famous hero campus in the world even he had to do a few double takes. But by the time he made it to his dorm assignment he was back on the brighter side of things. This what he had worked for the last few months working to learn Japanese and catch up to his peers and their education.
It had been hell to concentrate especially with his body still trying to adjust to everything, but he had put in the time and pulled it off. This was an opportunity to good to pass up in his eyes to train and become a hero and plus the staff had told him that the other participants would be given the chance to come as well.
The building Izuku walked up to looked less like a dorm and more like a medium sized house. He didn't see how it was possible to fit so many people into this one story brick home, but he trusted whoever dealt with housing had that in hand. Izuku walked into the house and shifted his backpack once more. It bounced lightly against his shoulder betraying that it was far from stuffed to the brim with Izuku's few articles of clothings and worldly possessions.
One of the first things a wanderer lets go of is his unnecessary items. Travel light, move fast and most importantly stay alive that was the code that kept Izuku breathing and his abilities in check but that was behind him.
Before him was a cream colored wall and a notice on the welcoming him to Melbrook hall. There was another wall to his left and a hallway to his right the noticed had and arrow telling him to follow the foyer and take a left. Izuku did as he was told and found himself looking at a sturdy doorway with no window or discernable handle. There was only a small box jutting out with a small oval shape with a green pad on top. Izuku might not have been great with technology but even he could figure that one out. He pressed his thumb against the oval and after a minute the door opened with a small beep.
Izuku stepped out of the foyer and into what looked like a living room than anything else. There were several couches and chairs set up. A metal coffee table in the middle of the room and a large flat screen tv set on the wall directly across from him. Everything was decorated in whites or reds and smelled like a combination of flowers and chemicals. Which Izuku could only assume they were using an artificial air freshener. He walked around the room taking in the scene on each wall perpendicular to the entrance was another metal door and scanner. Each held a sign the one to the left of the entrance said 'Boys' while the one on the right said predictably 'Girls'. Izuku went over to the television and found that there were open doorways on either side that one could walk through.
Izuku did just that and found himself in a white tiled kitchen. It had a large sink, a stove with multiple burners and a griddle and all kinds of cooking knick knacks that Izuku had neither the knowledge or the experience to make anything out of.
At the back of the kitchen on the right was a cupboard which Izuku opened to find a fully stocked pantry. On the left was another metal door this one had neither a sign above it or a fingerprint scanner. Izuku walked out of the kitchen and back into the living room then over to the boys door. As he walked he carefully skirted away from wall outlets whenever possible. He hadn't had an accident since the procedure but that didn't mean he wanted to test his luck.
Izuku pressed his thumb against the scanner and the door opened and he walked into what he could only assume as a common room. There was another television on the far end along with pool and ping-pong tables. The other end held dart boards and a wooden door with the word bathroom on it. Opposite of the entrance were three metal doors these had scanners clearly in place but no signs, but they were numbered one, two and three.
With a shrug and a heft of his pack Izuku walked over to the middle door he pressed his thumb down and waited for the beep. This time all that came out though was a harsh buzzer he tried twice more before giving up and trying the door on the left which was room one.
This time the door beeped and opened though he noticed a chime after the usual opening beep. But Izuku wasn't sure what that meant but the sight before him left little free brain space for him to concentrate. Saying his room was luxurious was something of an overstatement but it was definitely more opulent than a boy on the run was accustomed to.
There was a large bed in one corner with a desk and computer set up in the other. Between the two was a large window sunlight streaming through the blue curtains. The floor was carpeted and as Izuku was walking across it he noticed across from the desk there was a closet and a chest of drawers.
Slipping off his pack Izuku walked up to the drawers and pulled one open to see if he had enough clothes to warrant an organizational system. He was shocked to see the drawer already had many many pairs of socks. Checking the next drawer he found shorts then t-shirts he went back to the top and found boxers. He slammed that drawer more quickly than the others brain cells flaring Izuku came to the only natural conclusion.
'Crud this is someone else's room.'
It only made sense this place was to nice to well furnished but why had the door let him in though. Izuku brushed that thought out of his head quickly it was faulty equipment not intentional. But it wouldn't make it less awkward if this rooms inhabitant came home to find an intruder. Izuku turned on his heels snatching up his backpack and bolting for the door.
All of which lead to him coming face to face with a taller boy standing in the doorway posing as he looked down on Izuku.
