These past two weeks have been tedious. Paperwork, certification, money, tears, practically a new life being set up.
Just breathe- a mantra on cycle, a constant repetition.
It'll all be worth it when Katie walks down that aisle. She's been fighting this so long, almost sixteen years and she's never been more active in proving how it feels to be a Beckett, what lengths you go to as a Beckett, even though in a few seconds she'll be a Castle.
She's done what any child would do for their parent and more. Much much more. That's why it's only befitting this gets done today.
The ultimate wedding present.
There will be tears, hugs, screams, hurt, and forgiveness. But the long hours and hard nights will all be worth it when they say I do.
Ties are adjusted, dresses straightened, babies held, children silenced, all in time for the holy music. The band playing the beginnings of "Here Comes the Bride."
Everyone stands and looks back. Richard is staring at his wife-to-be. No one looking this way.
And then she emerges, arm in arm with Jim and smiling brightly at her man.
Oh she's beautiful. Little Katie-bug finally getting married.
Her steps are slow but eager and Jim is laughing at Kate's giddiness. Her eyes never leave Rick's and the love there is so strong and palpable that it's impossible not to feel it in your heart.
"Who gives this woman to this man?" The pastor says, gesturing to Jim when they reach the pew.
"I do," he says.
"No!" Johanna shouts. "We do."
