Like Ice

By Geraldine Delos Santos

His eyes

deep pools of silvery gray

Pale face strong and hard

every stern look

showing his undeniable authority

His broad shoulders

clothed in a cloak of midnight black

freshly ironed- crisp and clean

His slightly overgrown blonde hair

smooth as silk, neatly styled

skimming the back of his collar

He walks down the dark dungeons

long and even strides

His hands

carelessly stuffed in his pockets

He was a vision of perfection,

that no one could deny.

Suddenly

he passed her.

Angelic innocence

surrounded her heart shaped face

Slowly her gaze landed on his

Smiling, she was only for him

His austere expression broke

pools of gray flooded with bright blue

His monotonous strides

now followed a rhythm

His heart

A frivolous boy

became of the man

As she shattered his soul

like ice.
