Strange

The lodger in the basement apartment is really strange. Strangely dressed, strange hairstyle, strange name, strange everything!

He's always dressed in a suit, but he wears it in a slack teenager's way; the two top buttons of the shirt are never buttoned, it's never tucked down and the jacket is always open. That's strange for someone who's studying at university, and it makes him look younger than the nineteen years he is.

His hair's a red mess of irregular, spiky, bangs and a long ponytail in the neck. It's the strangest hairstyle I've ever seen on a guy. His eyes are bright green, like no other I know. He wears a pair of goggles as a headband, which makes his fringe stand out over his forehead. He has two red lines tattooed on the sides of his eyes, something I can't understand at all, and he has a ring in his left ear.

His name's Reno. It's a nickname, but I don't know what his real name is. But no one calls him that anyway. Not even his parents.

But the strangest thing of all: he's successful in making it look good! I was trapped the first time I ever saw him.

Reno gazed at me over his shoulder. "What'cha ya lookin' at, yo?" That's another strange thing, I thought. He has a habit of saying "yo" at the end of his sentences every now and then.

I shrugged at his question. "Nothing in practical" Reno grinned and took my hand.

"C'mon babe. What were ya lookin' at?"

"That strange guy in the basement apartment" I teased.

"Oh, that guy" Reno said. "Yeah, he's a real weirdo, yo. But his girlfriend's even stranger." He nudged me with his elbow.

"And why's that?" I asked.

"Just the fact that she's his girlfriend for example" Reno said. "She must really love him, yo" I laughed.

"Yeah, she does"
