One Rotation a Minute

Len Kagamine legs pushed themselves together, and his toes gripped the bottom of his feet. His bottom lip became tucked in between his incisor teeth, and his hands felt sweaty. His body became tense. The 'mourning sun' pierced the side of his eyes, but his sheer concentration prevented him from being bothered.

A sweet victory left untasted; his controller met his desk, and his right hand met his face (not in an angry manor, but in more of a disappointed fashion). He gave out a frustrated sigh and reluctantly motioned towards his bathroom door, opened it, and begin his morning ritual – this day was a school day.

Chapter 1 – Walking to school at 1rpm/Exposition

Len left his house a minute later than usual according to his schedule. He stepped out to the perfect 70 degree weather, as normal. He continued along his almost-daily path, going towards his local transport station - the torus's school happened to be almost absolutely opposite to Len's home, he'd calculated it. As a matter of fact, on sick days, with a telescope, he could look directly up and see students walking around the campus. What a peculiar place to live!

He passed the same perfect roads, lawns, trees, fountains, and streets as he always had on his way to school. He walked in the middle of the road for, unlike on Earth, there were no cars.

The tri-crossing in which Len met his friend every day soon came. His pink haired friend, Teto, spotted him and waved, "Hi, Lenny!"

Len put his hand up, "Hello, Tet."

She moved to meet him, despite her way to the station being in the opposite direction. Teto inquired about 'that hard game' and Len complained about its difficulty. They walked and talked, and then stood and talked while waiting for the tram to arrive at its scheduled time. The tram arrived, a man departed, and Len and Teto entered and sat; they needed no tickets or money, the transport station itself was really just a marked point in the middle of the road where trams stopped.

"Well, surviving half of the game is a feat in itself, really. You showed me it, and the first thing I thought was 'bullets, bullets everywhere'," she gestured accordingly during the bullet comment, "Then you let me play, and easy was hard for me!"

The buildings curved back below them as they entered the space above an agricultural area.

"Let's just agree on the difficulty then!" Len said, "Anyway, that message from Earth should be arriving tod-"

Teto cut in, "I can't wait for the music!"

Len went along with her, "And the games!"

"And the cartoons!" Teto continued.

"And the news!" Len shot back.

"Bleh!"

Len became rather silly, "Well, unsophisticated mongrels such as thyself would never understand, or even begin to comprehend, the importance of such a media!"

Teto with a half-sarcastic smile countered, "You just threw in every large word you know in order to sound smart." She held her smile even after the words left her mouth.

"That's the joke..."

"Unsophisticated mongrels such as thyself wouldn't understand good comedy." Her smile had become less sarcastic and more welcoming mid sentence.
