An audible sigh echoed in the Astronomy Tower. The person who created the sigh gripped the parapet and looked out to the perfect view of the sky. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. When he released it, he opened his eyes, and a small smile grew.

With only the groans and clank ups of the Bloody Baron sounding in the Astronomy Tower to comfort him, Remus felt content. Something about the repetition and rhythm that the ghost made eased the raging side of Remus that threatened to surface upon anyone that bothered him.

However, he knew that no one would look for him in there, despite it being an obvious option that Remus would take. It was two days after his transformation in the Shrieking Shack, and the scratches he put on himself had been healed; but Remus could still feel them there. No matter what his friends told him, Remus despised himself over what he was and what he could do to others.

Because of these thoughts, Remus had to seek sanctuary away from the others to prevent himself from snapping at them and causing some sort of ruckus. These moments to himself did wonders for the little bit of sanity that he held onto, and he hoped that no one would disturb him there. Remus had no doubt that Dumbledore had an idea of Remus' whereabouts when he disappeared; but Dumbledore respected this time Remus took for himself and didn't disturb him or make him leave the area.

Until that inevitable day that someone stumbled upon Remus in the Astronomy Tower and he had to find somewhere else to wallow in self pity, Remus would remain there.

He would let the breeze brush through his hair and kiss his cheek. As it did, Remus would replay the memory of his transformation in his mind until his head throbbed. After that, he would grip the parapet until his knuckles were bone white. Finally, Remus would take a breath and let everything he was feeling out; it was a method he knew by heart.

Remus was still waiting to really exhale, but he accepted that the day it happened would be in a very long time.
