Hermione felt her buzz from joining the wizarding world dying.
It had turned out to be just like her primary school. Kids were mean and teased her – just about different things. And it was only the first day.
The castle was beautiful and magic was so... so... interesting, but the people in this castle were just like people everywhere.
Hermione had hoped for a new start. A new chance to make friends.
She was wandering the halls now. It was better than being in the full common room with no one to talk to or her dormitory with no one to talk to. So she decided to try to memorize her routes around school. It would be so embarrassing to get los...
Hermione stared at two large doors, not undifferent from the ones that guarded the Great Hall. Except she was nowhere near that.
She let her curiosity get away from her and quickly peered in the doors only to find the largest library she had ever seen.
Hermione felt her eyes go wide.
She tore into the library like Ronald Weasley after food.
She grabbed several books, only briefly skimming the subject before finding one of the more comfortable chairs in the library and beginning to read.
Just as she started to turn the page, she heard a voice behind her.
"Oh, look, the teacher's pet has found her places, among the books. It's perfect because she's just like them, dull, dusty, and boring."
Hermione pushed her nose in the air and hmph'd.
When she heard the boy walk away she dropped her head and to her horror felt tears coming to her eyes.
Just like primary school.
