Summary: Dean always has an opinion. (Sam/Dean.)
Ruby was on her way out and Sam was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at his watch. Dean would be back any minute from the bar and he was a mess from her blood. Getting up, Sam made his way into the bathroom, stopping to grab a clean shirt and his toothbrush. Because the last thing he wanted was for Dean to find out about the whole demon blood thing.
It'd been going on since before he came back from Hell, months ago; and now, Sam just didn't feel like stopping. And not stopping meant he had to keep a secret from Dean.
But then again, Dean had his own secrets. Mainly about his time in Hell, which the younger Winchester still had no idea about.
Sam changed his shirt before starting to brush his teeth, trying to scrub clean all traces of the blood that he'd ingested minutes ago. Dean finding out before he was ready to tell him had become Sam's greatest fear ever since he got back. He was afraid his brother would look at him in a different light.
That would be the worst thing for Sam. Their brotherhood had been slowly rebuilding, along with a little something else that Sam harbored since his teenage years; but that was beside the point. He didn't want to ruin things while they were just starting to look get good again. Lately, things had been looking up.
In the middle of his feverish brushing, Sam heard the motel room door open and poked his head around the corner to see Dean. He was shutting the door behind him and turned to grin at his little brother. "Working on that hygiene, Sam?"
He pulled the tooth brush out of his mouth for a moment. "Shut up," he said with a mouthful of toothpaste.
" I'm just teasin' Sammy. Don't gotta get all defensive."
Sam went back into the bathroom to spit out the mouthful of toothpaste and rinse his brush vigorously. He heard Dean's footsteps grow closer, looking up in the mirror to see the amused look on Dean's face. "Seriously, what?"
The corner of Dean's mouth turned up into a smirk and he shrugged. "You know, just admiring the view."
His remark caused Sam to let out a stifled laugh. "And you call me a girl?"
Dean pulled his hands from the pockets of his jeans, only to move closer and wrap his arms around Sam's middle. "Chill out. You're all worked up over nothin', dude."
Huffing, he nodded. "Guess so."
"You okay?"
"Fine. Just the usual stress." Sam put his toothbrush down and shifted, turning to face Dean while still locked in the hug. He leaned down to give him a quick kiss, but nothing was ever quick with his brother. Over time, he learned this fact. Dean let go of Sam's middle, only to grab him by the hair and deepen it.
Sam gave in, just forgetting the world and their hectic lives for a few moments. When Dean pulled back, he licked his lips happily. "You taste like awesome."
He laughed and turned to grab his things to put back into his duffel bag. "Dean, it's called mint. Not awesome…" Sam brushed by him, laughing in the process.
"It's still awesome," Dean told him as he shut the bathroom door.
